Denon AH-D7000

So I'm three folks away from the TH600's so maybe a couple of weeks or so.

This should be interesting.  I just an hour ago got my D7000's back from Mark Lawton - had him do the full treatment (damping and angle pads install) and holy shnikies (is that a word?) what a hellacious difference from stock!  Incredible basshead phone with detail, great highs and soundstage.  I am impressed beyond what I expected.

Anyone have doubts whether you should spend the $99, don't.  You have to experience it to believe it.

Bring on the TH600...............

Yeah I got the tune and angle pads for my d7k to see what the fuss was about. It really improved the headphone but the angle pads were quite stiff at first. I would still say I like the th-600 better but to a lesser extent after the tune and pads. Is mark having a sale or something? I thought it was $198 for tune and pads.

I paid about that and agree the pads are stiff but I like that. Two hours and counting this morning and the comfort is great.

If the TH600 is better than THIS I am going to be amazed.

Can someone tell me how to see when your D7000's were produced ?

Is there a way to know based on serial number ?

I have read more than  few people talk about later production units sounding better, just curious.

The HD800 is definetly more proficient on the technical side - but for enjoyment, the D7000 beats it by a large margin. Opinion, etc.

Are you pairing the D7000 with your MAD EAR+ Tube amplifier?   I'm still missing my MAD

Yes, and it's working wonderfully! The Ear+ is a great tube amp, especially as it works so well with low-impedance 'phones too. The MAD amps are reportedly great with Grados (of course I sold my RS1 before buying the Ear+, silly me) but I'd say that pairing one with a Denon is just as great.
