Denon AH-D7000

I bought my 7ks to either complement or replace my HD800s; I am keeping them both, though.  I use mine with a Woo WA6SE, and after a couple of hundred hours, they have smoothed out and sound fantastic.

They're great with all types of recordings; some of my favorites are an old Telarc CD of the Chicago Symphony performance of Pictures at an Exhibition; Supertramp's Crime of the Century, and Mark Knopfler's Kill to Get Crimson.

Even though these recordings are quite different, they all have their own flavor of impressive bass, and they all sound amazing with the Denons.

I have yet to hear anything with my D7k's that I thought sounded worse (bad, inferior or lacking) because of them.

Brilliant with Crime of the Century!  I have yet to hear classical that is amazing on these, but I think it is the quality and choice of classical recordings I have available.  Any acoustic, piano or vocals that are well recorded can bring me to my knees with these though.

2 weeks ago, I became a proud owner of D7000.
I am a Denon Fanboy. I have owned all their iems (AH-C360,452,551,710) and 2 headphones (AH-D501 & 1001)
At the start of this month, I unexpectedly purchased AH-A100, which is a superb portable headphone. (although it's a bit pricey)
I am deeply in love with that great, grand 'Denon' sound again.
I could not resist the temptation to buy a full size Denon headphone.
So D7K in, DT880 sold
I hope I can stick with them for a long time.

A100 VS. D7000. FIGHT!

I have been reading this thread for over a year.
I am so happy to own D7000, my first ever flagship headphone.
The build quality of A100 is just so-so, the stock cable of D7000 is also much better than the cable of A100.
But A100 really rocks with portable amp, I enjoy listening to music more than ever (on the road) since I got the A100. I think it matches perfectly with my iMod and ALO RX.
I haven't done any AB tests with these brothers in desktop amp, but I think D7K will win, by a small margin.

OK this hobby/obsession is going to kill me... or at least drive me to the poor house LOL.

Snagged a great deal and will be the proud owner of one of these tomorrow night whoohoo! I t5ried to make due with midfi stuff but the siren call (memory) of these was just to much and my o my do they ever look so sweet! Will post some impressions tomorrow :)

I have to say I thought I was just an IEM man until I heard these and some other high end rigs at a head-fi meet and I've been hooked on fullsize ever since. Now to clear out a few mid-fi phones to make room at home and in the bank account...

I am so SIKED!!!! :) :) :)

Oh, dweaver... My friend, you are in for a real treat!  Congrats!

@ aamefford... I agree on Crime..., and just about anything else recorded well and produced with care. Also, I've got some Classical (and other) recordings that I'll play for you on Feb. 19th that just may do it for you.

The AH-D7000's are certainly in the top group of headphones even though they have been overshadowed by more recent contenders.  I had been listening almost exclusively to my HD 800's for past few months but recently have been really enjoying the Denon's again.  It's very tough to pick a favorite.  The Burson amp seems to be a very good match for the Denon's.

The D7000 is very different to the hD800. Both has its pros and cons.

They are very different and seem to like different amps.  The 800's are great with the Cary Xciter but the Denon's are better with the Burson.
