Denon AH-D7000

I have both the D2k and D7k, the former is a little heavier on the bass and treble's a tad harsher, but it does everything (pop, rock, movies, vocals) I've thrown at it easily enough. The D7k is more refined compared to the D2k, smoother treble with bass that isn't very hard hitting as the D2k, but still has great presence. I'm already lovin' the D7k, I have a chance to complete the series with a D5k for about 300USD but that one sounds like a good bit of work needed to bring it up to good specs.....requires a headband change for one. I guess I should be contended with these two badboys, gonna spend as much time as I can with them before I'd send them off to be modded (detachable cables).

took out my dusty d7k for a spin, eh...kinda spiky in the highs..lacks 3D...somethings wrong,
put my hand into the tubebox, and pulled out a $25, 1951 RCA Jan CRC 5R4GY,
plugged into the CSP2+........
and that transparent, out of the cup, spacious, clean sound came back to awe me...
MIGHTY HAPPY ..this DENON is magical !

my amp is the csp2+...dun think it can take a 300B..not that i am aware of..hmmm :p

i think the 300B Rectifier Tube can be used on the csp2+, giving you a lot more rolling choices.
the 274B Western Electric are pretty much myth or harder to find as Elvis.  Many people feel the 300B is very comparable to the 274B.

Has anyone tried the D7000 with the Oppo HA2?

Hey guys, do I still need d7000 when I already hd600, dt990 pro, and m50x? I am not sure this headphone can do well in which music genre. Can anyone letting me know? Hows the bass compare with 990pro? And also pairing with o2 amp and dragonfly dac can satisfied?? 450 usd for second hand, is that safe? Thank you!

$450 is a good price, but I will not buy since it's been too old and you will have a hard time to find the replacement drivers.
Go with TH600 or TH900 :)

Price is good if its condition is good. D7000's bass's second to none among my collection (JVC DX1000's bass though shake one's head violently, it never reaches the epic bass of D7000. Love it with classical, orchestral, soundtrack musics.

D7000 has a hot treble, which needs to be tamed, either through EQ or have a warm chain.  In my experience, O2 amp passes exactly what your source gives; bright source and O2  paired with D7000 is a problem for me, as it does not improve the slight v-shape in its frequency nor helps in the elevated, harsh treble. However, with Project Ember and WA2 in my case, it turns magical, prefer it second to my SR-009! Yes, I love it to that extent.

For SQ, it runs over all your mentioned headphones, except maybe HD-600 in certain aspects.  I checked TH600 once, maybe carrying same DNA, never beaten the magic of D7000's bass in my opinion of course.
