Another option is the Lawton angled pads - I've tried just about every pad combo on my Denon's and ended up with the Lawton pads. Only downside is cost is around $100 but worth it to me. Have them on both my D2000 and LA7000.
Maybe you can start by replacing the ear cups with wood cups , if that's possible on the D-7000. I don't know if that would change the sound signature or not. I just got the Emu teak and really enjoying the sound. You can order different wood cups from Emu.
I've had the TH900/TH600 while owning the LA7000 (along with my D5000 and D2000) and to my 55 year old ears I didn't hear much difference. This was with the TH900 being in reality 2/3rds of a LA900 (Q French Silk cable and Mark L's damping that he did himself) - only point was the cups were the stock Urushi red cups. My LA7000 has slightly deeper than stock Teak cups along with the same cable and again Lawton damping (again done by Mark himself). I'm sure some young golden ears folks could hear the difference with the slightly stronger tesla magnet but not me. I kept the LA7000 and sold all the rest except the D2000 (which is also Lawton modded with Bubinga cups).
