+1 to what Mad Lust Envy said.

I have only had mine 3 weeks, and was VERY surprised at how well the do in gaming.

I cant speak much about the music you listen to, but I have listened to the wifes The Civil Wars CD a few times on them, and I really liked what I heard. Though I am not someone who really listens to this type of music, so I am not a good person to ask on that.

Here's a quote off my gaming guide: Quote:
Denon D7000
Normally, I wouldn't be recommending you spend anywhere near the price of the D7000 for gaming needs, but since I happen to own them, I'll go ahead and critique them. This may or may not be a surprise, but they are absolute gaming monsters. Despite them being closed, there is a ridiculously great soundstage, with plenty of depth and width. Pinpointing directional sounds around you is a BREEZE. Detail is in everything you can focus on. If you happen to own the D7000 and something with Dolby Headphone, you need not look further for your pleasureable gaming needs. The bass is so magnificently present without it smearing over the rest of the frequencies. The mids are rich though obviously taking a slight step back because of the bass and pronounced treble. The treble is sparkly but nowhere near the emphasis of the DT990s. They are also GREAT for hardcore gaming, but in all honesty, the bass is so good, you'll find yourself paying attention to it when you should be picking up the finer details, which is why I'd still choose something with quicker, and less present bass like the AD700, K701, HD598, and even DT990 for hardcore gaming. Still, yes, they can do it all.
Fun: 10/10
Competitive: 8/10

Man, you always make me want to get something that supports Dolby Headphone. Gonna need to take a look at sound cards now.

Dolby Headphone isn't for everyone, as some don't like the added reverb/echo, which takes getting used to if you're used to playing is straight stereo as long as some of you have. Still, after some time, DH is something I can't live without when I play games.

while I'm one who doesn't like the reverb/echo I am impressed in how it can make you feel like stuff is actually behind you.  Makes sense as it's just frequency delays and we can process surround sound in our brain with only two inputs (left and a right ear).

hey can someone confirm that the d7k has an upgraded cable over the d5k. I've heard it both ways.  Gotta show me show proof

not proof, but...

Cables - Both the D5000 and D7000 use identical cable with 7N oxygen-free copper (99.99999%) conductors, but the fabric sheath on the D7000 is significantly thicker. The D2000 uses lower grade OFC conductors and is also fabric sheathed. The D7000 cable is terminated with a 1/4" plug, the D5000 and D2000 are 1/8" plugs and 1/8" to 1/4" adapters are included. All plugs have brushed aluminum bodies and gold plated connectors and all cables are 3 meters long.
It seems to me that we're seeing in the various differences between models a serious effort to carefully pinch pennies on the D2000; build a solid performer with the D5000; and guild the lily with the D7000.
