Denon AH-D7000

I meant, coming from my previous pair of headphones, these hit very hard and deep.  I had to get use to them.  I prefer clean accurate sound.  I like clear clean highs with smooth powerful and detailed lows.  I love it when the bass can be felt if not heard.  These denons, in my view, can handle nearly any music though classical tends to be a challenge.

Should have these tomorrow, but I don't even know if I want to listen with them for a few weeks. I am an idiot and punctured my ear drum with a q-tip. The first time I use a q-tip in probably 10 years and this happens. Meh. D:

I use them for everything.  I tend to float back and forth between the D7000 and the HD600.  Ironically I bought the HD600 for classical but I find they shine more over the D7000 when it comes to female vocals.  As others said, classical does perform well on the 7000s.  :)

Most of the classical I have seems to lack some umpf when I play it.  I've always chalk it up to the recordings not having enough impact.

My hearing seems about 90% back. I think I just had some wax impacted and maybe some water stuck too. Some ear wax removal drops and a lot of warm water have helped a lot. :D So I'll try out my new (well, lightly used) D7000 tomorrow! :D

Will do. And I expect to like it. But the question is whether I will like it more than my W5000.

There have only been a few pricey headphones I've gotten that I dislike for whatever reason. The AKG Q701 (comfort issues), DT990 600ohm  (where are the mids?), and the T1 (one of the tallest treble spikes of them all). Other headphones that have come and gone, like the W3000ANV and HD8000 I still hold in high regard.

I have to agree that the HD600's are excellent with vocals. Better than any other headphone I've heard.

Comparing the D7000 with the W5000 now with my newly flushed out ears. Maybe it'll be better when my ears actually have some wax back in them, haha. But I'm not hearing that significant a bass jump with the D7000 compared to the W5000. Still, it is certainly a nice headphone. Going to have to stop switching back and forth and just listen for the rest of the night. I hear a bit more sub bass, I think, but I was expecting a larger boost in the mid bass impact. Perhaps it's just the material I am listening to.

Getting more used to the sound. The vocals aren't as in your face as with the W5000. They sit back in the mix more. Advantages and disadvantages to that. It definitely will contrast my AD2000 quite a bit where as the W5000 and AD2000 are fairly similar. Except that one is open and one is closed.

This headband bothers me a bit. I just feel pressure on top of my head that I haven't really felt with any headphone since the Q701. If the D7000 is going to give me headaches it cannot stay. I'll give it a few days on the comfort issue.
