Successor to the Denon AH-D1000, AH-D1001 (aka Creative Aurvana Live!), and AH-D1100, the Denon AH-D1200 brings back a portable over-ear that does not have a suspended headband-and-ear-cup-cover that the Denon AH-D600 had. The official US product page is here:

https://usa.denon.com/us/product/portableaudio/overear/ahd1200

The official JP product page is here:

https://www.denon.jp/jp/product/headphones/classicoveronear/ahd1200

Also, the Denon AH-D1200WW World Witches 10th Anniversary Edition has been released and you can read more on it here, though being a able to read Japanese is definitely helpful:

If you want it, need it, have it, or just want to talk about it, feel free to post.

Any particular reason they don't look like Fostex drivers?

I'm ordering these in the next few days.

The driver protection cage is the most obvious giveaway, but also from the yellow lining from the second-to-last picture, which looks to be a dampening ring, and from the dampener spaces. Fostex would not apply all of those extra bits-and-pieces to the driver, nor would they add some type of Sennheiser-hdxx0 dampening around the driver. I had the Denon D1001, D2000, and D5000, and all three did not have dampeners as large as those on the D1200 around the driver.

Just from reading the drivers in the AHD1200 sound similar to the once in the AHD600. I have the AHD600 rite now and have been using them as my Maine headphones for the past 4 years. The only mod I have made is to replace the ear cushions with the Brainwavz Sheepskin Leather Angled once. The original cushions started falling apart little over a year of use.

Wonder if the cushions on the AHD1200 could be better considering the price.

This is why I organized the pictures from the intro post to the “technical caption” post, so that comparisons are easier made. I will put up pictures of the D1200 folded in different formations. Wow, the D1200 has not been on the market for long, and they already have a Denon AH-D1200WW World Witches 10th Anniversary Edition.

Taken from the title of this page:

and Google Translated from JP to EN:

“World Witches 10th anniversary commemoration Denon made collaboration headphone ~ world witches headphone 10th Anniversary collaboration model ~

Guests can not purchase this product. Please purchase after member registration.”

@Currawong or anyone else who knows how to get around this, let us know!

Edit 8/5/2018: the Denon AH-D1200WW is no longer available for pre-order, which was scheduled to end on July 31st, 2018.

Just arrived, some detail pics:
Smells like a nice leather couch, requires more volume than my other portable cans (despite being 24ohms), 1000x m2. In store listening done on Sony nwa45 which required about 54-60 volume depending on the track to be normal listening volume to my ears.
Burning in right now.
