I think we'll have to wait for a professional review, as in someone who does NOT own the A100 but only for testing purposes to prevent from being biased. I mean, we got a review that went from "A100 blowing D5000 in every possible aspect" to just a "bit high resolution", and another claiming it beats D2000 for sure but very similar to D5000 as if D2000 and D5000 have that much of a gap in sound quality. Only thing I learned so far about A100 is having a big bass presence like D5000, which in my experience has more bass than D2000 and D7000.

I am sorry, I meant to say without any bias. I didn't type 'out'. It's been corrected.

Well, sound quality is highly subjective, but I do think there's a quite a gab between D2000 and D5000, the A100 fits right there in between, but listen to the headphones yourself, the best judge is yuorself, not a so called pro review.

Yeah I didn't mean any disrespect. It's just something we all do when we buy new things we try to justify the purchase. I was a little frustrated by lack of more reviews but I guess we'll have to wait since it just released.

alpha10, can you be more specific on A100 fitting between D2000 and D5000? To me the only noticeable difference between 2000/5000 was the bass extension. Maybe a slight refinement overall but was pretty hard to spot. General knowledge we have is that they share the same drivers, so I'm rather confused.

alpha10, like TobaccoRoad points out, the D2000 & D5000 share the same drivers and to me finding differences in SQ between them is like splitting hairs. I'm rather puzzled myself as to how anyone can feel there's "quite" a gap between the two cans for the A100 to fit in.

The question that still remains unanswered is how they sound in comparison to the D1100. Ajreynol where are you???

Do we know that for a fact? That the the D2000 and D5000 share the same drivers? In any case, I can clearly clear which is best of the 2, so there must be oher differences than just the drivers. I only spent 10-15 minutes with the headphones, but for me the A100 were the best because they have a similar sound to the D5000 just much easier to drive, more comfortable because of the lower weight and cheaper...

I would like to say something. When I auditioned Ultrasone ED-9 out of an iPod and a D10 fed through optical I still preferred my 840s. Keep in mind that I used to be an Ultrasone fan prior to getting 840s. I couldn't enjoy the more biased 'U' signature of Ultrasones. I've never heard ED-8, so I can't comment on those. But having owned 650s, 780s and auditioned ED-9s I could still say 840s are perfectly balanced and neutral to my ears. I felt I had to stop searching in dynamics until I've come across these. But I am quite sure that my next step's gonna be either LCD-2s or Electrostats. Dynamics don't quite cut after certain point. The thing with A100s is that they are a bit similar to my 840s with excellent bass and treble extensions and refined overall and they are quite portable.

If you give me a blind test with the two headphones, I shall identify them as headphones with different drivers and different specifications.

Are you sure they use different drivers and different specifications?

Yes, same drivers & specs. Only difference is wooden cups and a different cable.

Im very pleased with the A100s.But im no expert though, and dont have any other denons to compare with. But i didnt like the cable, and they are very picky on what you play.Lol :p Mp3,spotify,and other compressed sound wont blow your mind to high end fidelity nirvana.... If u want to hear them at their finest, flac,cd,and hd music bluray are the way to go.But the only thing,is that vocals sounds a little secluded and not so crispy. But maybe some more burn-in will help.To now i have about 40 hours of burn in on them

The A100 has the same specs as the A1100 ($200). The D5000 specs are not the same as A100.

The Shure 840 sounds great for the money, under $200. The A100 cost $500 so it's not the same. It should perform 2x better than the Shure 840.

It doesn't work like that mate. For instance ED-8s are around $1500, it doesn't mean they are 3x better compared to a $500 headphone. It's the law of diminishing returns. It applies to everything that we use.

Different drivers ??  Duno.
But both phones have the same specification.

I just want to say that I feel they sound quite differently.

Care to describe the differences? I assume you prefer the A100?

But coming from the same manufacture, price point of each model should mean that they spent more in getting you better sound/quality. Am I off by thinking that way?
