I want to try Focal Clear/Utopia pads on my D7200 but they are crazy expensive.

Can't be as expensive as Stax 009 pads :).
How much are those? Because utopia pads are 230 GBP (like half the price of D7200).

Will be difficult. Different form (oval vs round) and different attachment system. The Focal pads are one piece and don't work with a ring like the Denon's.

You win :), the Stax 009 pads are "only" about 140-180 euros. It seems we pay for the price... Granted, the Focal pads quality is very good, but not that much better than the cheaper leather pads of various make.
Yeah, unless I manage to get my hands on either of these pads really cheap, I'm not going to bother - I like stock pads on my D7200 and the overall sound.

Hi,

Does anyone drive the Denon D7200 with the Onkyo Granbeat as source and can tell me his experience?
I am looking also for a balanced replacemant cable with 2.5mm Trrs and 2 x 3.5mm TS.
Any recommendations?

Thanks for the recommendations!
Is the forzaaudioworks Copper Series HPC Mk2 recommendable?
I also found this on Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cable-with...D7200-AH-D7100-AH-D600-headsets-/253273406143

I use the same Copper Series HPC MkII on my D7200 and it works without issues, I highly recommend Forza if you're from EU!
Just select the D600/D7100 in the cable customization menu and it'll fit the D7200 also.

I'm not really a believer in cables sounding different, to me it's indistinguishable from the stock one, just feels much more durable (premium) and has no microphonics issues which is great (also pretty beautiful looking with the D7200 imo).

A new owner here, I need to read through these over 100 pages

Just a quick notes:
Burn-in:
These REALLY need long burn-in. I think they've finally settled right just after a bit over 250 hours (that's outrageus). There were two moments during break in when SQ got lower (shorter treble extension) but right now they are buttery smooth.

These pair really well with my small SMSL M8A/VA2 stack, kinda better than with Aune X7S. I really, really like them. Although this may sound as blasphemy I think they are almost as musical as my SR-007Mk I (being technically inferior).

A quick question before I will chew on 100 pages of info: is there a point in making balanced cable for them? I already have silver/PCOCC braided cables for HD6XX, changing the plugs is 10 minutes job: but maybe there is no point in doing this and it will be better to sell or stockpile this cable...

Regards to all happy Denon D7200 owners

The difference is subtle enough that I don't think it is worth swapping cables. Headphones cable in general do not impact frequency but many enthusiasts claims major alterations in sound quality. if you have extra cash then maybe give it a shot.

My pair just reached 150h... thank god. First 60h was just awful. At 150h those are at least coherent. There is lack of resolution in this system but it might be the amp as well as both are new to me (Gustard H10 with Burson OPAmps)

Anyway my head is not compatible with those. I got pain from pressure point after 45minutes and it is game over.

I know I am not the only one. I remember reading about other users fighting with the problem. Did anybody find a nice solution for it?

I have few ideas to try but I thought I will ask first :)

Those are very musical indeed! For my needs the lack of resolution (which might not be the HPs fault) is not a deal breaker. The bigger problem is boosted bass and recessed, especially lower mids. D7100 were better headphones. It is kind of funny how people on Head Fi were bashing D7100 and say nothing about D7200 which is much worse headphone. Less neutral (bass heavy, recessed mids (with other problems), rolled off highs..., lower resolution not to mention lack of comfort (in my case anyway) or less cables / accessories.

Cheers
