I have pretty much narrowed it down to these 4 choices.

1) Beyerdynamic DT 770
2) Sennheiser HD558
3) Audio Technica ATH M50
4) Audio Technica AD 700

It doesn't matter if it is open or closed but sound isolation is very important as I travel 2-3times a yr.

If these choices ain't good could you guys recommend smth within the budget of $200-$250.
The main bands i listen to are Beatles, Eagles, Bee Gees,Carpenters,Elvis, MJ,Queens.

Thanks!

Anything open will leak in and out ungodly amounts of noise so instantly cross open headphones off of your list.  Other than that, I don't know much about most full-sized headphones so I can't really give any other recommendations...

In terms of SQ does it beat the M50 hands down?

Between the DT770 and SRH840 which is better in term of SQ?

Not a big quality difference and maybe subjective, but I think for my taste, DT770 is better yes

Don't mean to confuse, but I'm going to have to disagree with the above.  While I prefer the DT770 overall to the M50 in terms of SQ and especially comfort, I'd have to say that the M50 is the better bet for your selection of music.  The DT770 is better suited for electronic/hip-hop with its nice serving of bass, but has more recessed mids than the M50.  Because of this, I've found the M50 to be more versatile and probably a touch more desirable with most rock.  Some Bee Gees and MJ tracks will probably shine more on the 770, but to accommodate everything listed in the original post I'd go with the M50.

In addition, were you planning to use an amp at all?  I've found the two flavors of DT770 (32 and 80Ω) that I've heard to be quite underwhelming unamped while the M50 sounds decent out of just about everything.

Thanks for the reply.

From what i heard all the DT770s models need amplification but currently budget doesn't really permit me to buy a good amp thus I should have clarified on the original post, which model would sound best unamped. My bad.
