Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
Jan 14, 2024 at 1:18 PM Post #813 of 1,893
Just picked up an E3. It’s coming in a few days. Can anyone recommend a cool looking cable that looked good with the E3?
Don’t you want to make sure you like the cans with the included cable first before spending money on aftermarket? Pure silver if you end up keeping the cans long term.

Dan Clark Audio E3 Closed Back Headphones vs. DCA Stealth vs. Meze Liric: Closed back shootout!

Thank you. This is a relatively honest review once you decode the “hifi reviewer“ speak. Still has the kiddie glove on but we are making progress.

It is our goal at TSAV to produce honest and accurate reviews while not disguising issues you might experience with a product….. we’ve had manufacturers express complaints on occasion but the reviews were solid feedback on the products so we maintained our feedback as posted

Thanks for acknowledging our attempts at providing honest reviews

As much as I like Anto and Mircea...but the E3 is in a completely different league🤣...tonally as well as technically😉
There is no one who can hold a candle to DCA Audio in the closed back range
Even Bernhard from AA said about the Stealth in the past 👍
(Dan Clark still has to manage to make his models less bulky construction and more efficient in the future....these are the only points where there is still some catching up to do)

NOMAX

PS.Wishing everyone lots of fun with the E3😎
(I prefer a little less fun.....left side to Target)

Are you saying E3 has timbre issues with too much upper mid and treble emphasis and broad bass deficiency? It’s so hard to decode “reviewer/sales/influencer speak“.

I see. I’m interested in something a bit higher in sound quality. Apple’s tuning is hilarious and resolution and detail retrieval are really low on the Max.

If I was going that route I’d probably take a Bathy’s.
get a pair of etymotic IEM's...they block out tons of outside noise and are pretty good for pennies comapred to your other choices

Certainly not bulky. But leave some spaces for cables in the case.
And, make the driver DAP friendly or easier to drive since it is portable enough to carry on the go.
Also put 2 cables in the package. One thick and long for home use, one short and thinner for portable use.

I prefer to have less in the low end (Bass)...especially planar drivers are not suitable if you are too much above flat
(At least I haven't heard of any so far 😎)

PS.The bass/low end would then appear faster and more audible and compact and you would still be above flat
(Less means more ❗️For me personally❗️especially in a closed back headphone, and if you want to cover more music genres with it
And the performance is then also more suitable for the long term)
But honestly .... E3 for 2.000 USD 👍 it's not bad at all, because the rest of the performance is really excellent👍👍👍👍
❗️In any case, Dan Clark no longer lacks much in the way of tonal perfection❗

Bulky? Seriously?

Yes,as example....Liric or yamaha YH 5000Se are not Bulky....Empy is it,also Final D8000 etc etc
Bernhards K812 was also bulky 10 years ago....Composer now not
Now you know what I mean by that from my side
(I am referring to this oversizing of the headbands and ear cups)
