Hmmmm…after a week+ of wearing my ZMF Aeolus, tonight I reached for my CC modded 650 and settled in. Not going to do a comparison here, just stating my immediate enjoyment and comfort with every aspect of this presentation once again. Started with this album. Jan Garbarek, sax usually haunting, can be on the edge of glare, but not tonight. But it’s Charlie Haden’s album, and his bass touch is alive and perfect.

My particular mod choices are outer foam removed, copper weight installed, and calamari foam insert. Tried removing inner foam (next to ear) but put it back in. Chain is 16/44 files - Yggy OG - Quicksilver - 650.

A couple more albums to go this evening, but somebody’s got to do it.

Thanks @jfunk for the videos on how to balance mod the DT770. This is my first attempt. The mini XLR socket is a little angled and not quite flush. The driver also doesn't quite sit down but the circular mount goes on ok. Changed the driver cabling to hybrid copper and SPC wire. Made 2 cables, 8 wire copper Litz and a Mogami starquad 2534. I think the Mogami gives a little better definition and low end but the cable rubs on my shoulder. It was a pain to squeeze into the 4.4mm jack, for sure. I have some 8wire SPC and Mogami 2739 that I will use to make a couple more cables for my next pair of DT770 which will have the V3 damping kit. Didn't win one on YouTube so ordered and arrived yesterday.

Mojo 2 tweaked EQ a tad,

Ah vocals , acoustic and pop now to my taste, particularly female vocals, Billie Eilish sounds amazing

Won't list all the cans I've gone through to get here, but they include DC Aeon Noire and Amanda SE and at least 6 others

Seems I'm fussy for the mids and tight bass

Second set of DT770: balanced and Custom Cans V3 mods. Better socket and driver fit. Mogami 2739 cable - this starquad wire was really easy to work with, total diameter 2.1mm! The shielding around the individual wires just pulls off with your fingers. Very light but tangle prone.

The sound is much more balanced, with the mids brought into line with the treble. Sightly reduced amount of bass but feels more focused. This is with the subbass foams inserts out. I'll try it with them in eventually. Thanks again to @jfunk.
