Curious: How far (#-wise) are the K701's?

You can find the serial number on the inside of the left side of the headphones. Maybe someone can describe it better than I.

By the way I've never head a pair of phones that creak more when you move than these; do they quiet down eventually?

Nope, they never settle down with their creaky ways.

wow there sure are a lot of K701s out there.
kinda makes me feel bad selling my Grado HF-1s, because I no longer feel special XD

well I have #2907.

nwsswn: I'd be interested to hear your take on the difference. I went the opposite route and got the HD650s after the K701s. I find myself listening to the 650s more. The bass is livelier, tighter, has more punch. Overall, it seems more "real." In comparison, the 701s seems bass-less and, yes, airier. I'm not sure, though, if it's just newitis, i.e., the newest is always the best. I'm wondering if you're going to like the 701s better, succumbing to newitis <g>.

This means that in the 19 years of their production, the K1000 still only has a couple thousand more in existence than the K701 in one year.
