I think what it really shows is just how much AKG has expanded itself as a high end company with high production capacity; it used to be a one-game show as far as high-volume high end headphone companies. Now Sennheiser has a legitimate and very large competitor in that regard. Beyer's probably in the game now, too, but I get a feeilng there are still a lot more K701s out there than the new DT990.

#10073 in addition to #2896 now. I wonder what the latest serial currently is, since that guy who posted above has a later one than me and I just ordered mine last week.

I also noticed AKG switched where the serial number is printed - on #2986 it's on the left side, while on #10073 it's on the right side. I wonder at which point they switched sides...
