Some of these gears are functional but they all have some kind of problems.

i dont use the p1 with the pd. Synergy of p1 and dx80 is better.

I am hazard guessing here... Good Sound? If the $45 phone sound as good as an ak380 I have no issue choosing the $45 phone.

I get what you're saying.. But I think what you mean, is you want to use the HTC Desire as a Transport, so you can attach it to an external DAC like the Fiio Q1 or iBasso D14 or something to that extent.. And if that's the case, sure absolutely.. What you're saying makes sense, just be sure to run the phone in Airplane mode to minimize EMI noise.

One last thing.. The AK's are all about perceived value, plus, honestly, it actually helps to have companies that charge this much money to provide a form of price validity, essentially, if all players were only $400 then (as a consumer) how would you compare the top of the line to a entry level product.. Honestly, it just helps the industry even if it seems unjust.
