If you read the related posts before those quotes, you'll see I went through the same thoughts as you - I think many of us Plenue D fans would love to be able to chuck a terrabyte card in them, but we all eventually find out it isn't going to work. Welcome to the club!

Yeah, but then there is still the damn file/folder limit. :frowning2:

Yes, as long as you go slowly gently and carefully, there is no damage caused to the case. It's not one of those products (like some of the old Nokias) that the clips easily break when you pry them open, but I must stress that with the Plenue D, if you want to do it without damage, then it depends on how much care you take. I had no problems at all.

Thanks for the heads up, but I saved myself the hassle opening it, thanks to the tool mentioned by vas-tomsk.

Yes. I found a way to determine whether there is a microSD card inside the COWON PLENUE (D, J, V, D2, D3) players without opening them.

Thank you, the tool worked perfectly. Unfortunately I don't have a microSD card inside.

I just picked up the PD. I was looking for something with great battery life for an upcoming off-grid trip and I figured even if the battery health was reduced it should still be pretty good so I took a punt. Condition seems excellent so no idea how much use it has had and I guess it could be up to 10 years old. No idea how to check the battery health so I am currently 7 hours into a play test of 16/44 FLACs at 50% volume so will be interested to see how long it lasts, battery level has barely moved so far and the first 3 hours had the annoying blinking LED before I figured out how to turn it off, so early signs are positive.

The UI is pretty basic and the manual not much help but I am slowly figuring it out, quite annoying that you can only access settings from the playback menu. I have read some good things about the jeteffect EQ, not tried it yet hut am curious as to if there is a battery hit if you use it?

Mine is still going strong and I've had it for probably 10 years. Yes, the UI isn't great and startup is sloooow. But that battery is why I've kept with it. (Although I did just pick up an Echo Mini for travel.) I still easily go a work week without charging and I bet I could go three. JetEffect can be pretty cool. In fact, if you search this thread you'll find some really good settings

I just ordered the Echo Mini too! Could not resist it once I saw one.

Does JetEffect impact battery at all? I have tried to skim through all 300+ pages but could not see any mention.

BTW, almost 17 hours in and the battery has still barely moved so I guess the battery health is fine. It is such a great device, a real shame that nobody makes anything like it anymore, I guess great battery life requires a non-android OS and developing an OS is probably more expensive than just throwing android on there.

I can't answer that definitively. I do believe that onboard EQ will always use more power though. I can tell you that I didn't use any for years. When I eventually did start playing with JetEffect I did not experience any noticeable loss of battery life and it's been on ever since - so years.

I recently saw someone new to the hobby ask somewhere online what's difference between an Amp, DAP, and DAC. Someone who seemed like quite an expert gave a length reply which was accurate, but they did say, after describing how an amp and DAC work, that: "A DAP is a dedicated music player that runs on Android OS", like that's just what a DAP is now. I'm loving the Echo Mini. I don't know if it's true, but I swear it sounds better than the PD. And it's as light as an empty Tic Tac box.
