No more daps for me after this. I keep saying that, but this time I mean it. Other than Cowon.

What is really holding me back, is that at this price, I was hoping for a powerful internal amp. 2vmrs seems weak.
I am right in thinking that this compares to roughly 2.8vrms for the WM1Z balanced (250mw at 32ohms) or 4vmrs for the LPG (500mw at 32ohms). Or am I understanding this wrong?

WM1Z balanced is 250 mw @16 ohm or 125 mw @32 ohm.
Completely different.
Completely different.
certainly looks promising, if they get the pricing right

The pricing is already wrong...around 1.4kcertainly looks promising, if they get the pricing right

yeah if it were in dx200 price range it would be a killer, alas!

Nice player. Not nice, or cheap enough to lure me away from my P1 though.

The P1 I'd hard to beat. It's a great player, great looking, unbelievable sound and eq. Has power. Not much to complain about really. Plus, you can grab them dirt cheap (compared to other TOTL players). Really difficult to improve this player IMHO. The S is a definite improvement with balanced option, and a slight bump in power. Sound wise, to me, they are equal.

today i had the chance again to compare the cowon plenue s with my cowon plenue m2, I had an offer to buy the s again. But honestly using the single ended on the s comparing to the single ended on m2, i honestly did not feel I am missing anything from the s
i decided against re-buying the cowon s as with iems I do not see the point of buying into balanced and more power than what the cowon m2 can offer
with planar headphones i still did not find one dap out there that can power planar with great authority so an amp is always is must, so this again defeats the temptation to buy the s as even if it is more powerful than the m2 still an amp is needed, so again the s did not win me over to rebuy it again
i will wait for the cowon p2 and buy if it will over an imprvement in sound signature, although i do not know how things can get better than the m2 sound signature
now comparing the cowon m2 to fiio x5iii, the fiio x5iii is great but still cowon m2 is better, the things that can be achieved with cowon's dsp are out of the league of any dap, i will share more in what ways later

Thanks, looking at the Jeteffect screenshot, the lowest band that can be adjusted for P2 is 32 Hz. In PM, it's 63 Hz This will be awesome for bassheads..
