Well the balance actually seems opposite when I use my A700's. Maybe it's the more prominent bass on the 770's that are throwing me off? Also, do you think I need an amp or soundcard for  these headphones? I've been told that lack of power can cause uneven audio balance. Is this true?

Are you currently using the onboard soundcard? 
 
If so, then you need to get a Better soundcard such as the Essence stx, or a Dac/amp like the fiio E7.

Yea I'm using onboard. Do you think that this will fix the balance problem or is it more likely that I have faulty cans?

Well, like i said you can try changing source. Even an old receiver will be fine, or ask a friend to audition your cans to make sure they are faulty. 
 
I never experienced (balance problems), even if my source is not good enough to drive my cans.
