Coolest car you have ever driven/ridden in?

My dad was always into race cars. Starting
with go karts, to three quarter midgets,to full midgets, now that he is older and belongs to the oldtimers club he has a 58 indy car which he brings to shows. My dad also bought a 63 truimph spitfire really tiny car. He had the chance to buy a 53 vette for 200 at the time but bought the spitfire instead. What a mistake.
This is what got me started with cars.
I have driven a pantera, porcshe boxter,a race ready 65 corvair with a mid engine
worked 350 chevy. My friends 69 chevelle ss worked 454 with a blower.68 camaro427. aston martin, rolls royce, lotus.Varouis year vettes.
.I had a lot of cars when I was younger and did a lot of street racining in the late 60s early 70s when muscle cars where in abundance.
Cars I have owned
1st car I owned and some afterwoods
.
55 chevy 283
64 chevelle ss 327
69 nova ss396
67 camaro ss, 70 z28
71 corvette 454 crashed this one and had it customized. It actually made the cover of vette magazine
sold that and bought a 59 vette which I
restored . Had that for 12 years sold it to buy my home.
I have been a passenger in friends
69 z28,70 chevelle ss 454, 450 hp
,69 Mustang 428 cobra jet, gtos numerous other muscle cars.
I used to race at freeport satduim in the stock car bomber class for a couple of seasons. That was a lot of fun. Also rode motorcyles .
Now I drive a Caddy.Wish I still had some of those cars. Id love to drive some of the more exotic stuff, I love speed.

Uh, what's an "R-34 Sylvia Skyline?"

The R-34 is one of the newer versions of the Skyline, a 4wd supercar from nissan. A SILVIA is a RWD sports car from nissan. Here, it was sold as the 240, which was basically the same thing, minus the SR20DET engine.

So, which is it?

Too hard to decide which was coolest:

'71 Challenger 440 - blackout acceleration

Porsche 911 Turbo - blurring top end, and so much fun getting there too

Lotus Europa - ever corner a city block at 70 mph?

Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3 - priceless: the looks on peoples' faces as this "family sedan" blew their doors off

I have fond memories of a Trabant I got to ride in europe. I think it's the ultimate people's car.

-standard transmission w/ a column shifter!
-2 cyl., 2-stroke engine, ~35Hp (can you say, dirt-bike motor?)

I've heard of some people supin' it up with japanese sport bike motors.

While it's not nearly as cool as a lot of the cars mentioned here, the coolest car I've ever driven (a test drive) was a black 87 Jaguar (pronounced JAG-yoo-ah
wink.gif
) sedan with replaced transmission. But the guy wanted $7500 for it (way over market price) and it wasn't in great condition, so I didn't buy it. Now I have less than $200 so it doesn't look like I'll be able to buy my own car in the near future

It would have to be a '73 Formula Firebird. I drove it to the prom. It belonged to the brother of my date, who was kind enough to loan it to us when my Mom's Sedan de Ville broke down (yes, on prom night...nice timing, huh?). This thing was anything but stock...nicely restored. WOW...just touch the accelerator and WOOSH...sucked back into your seat. Neat car.

Boy that car is small. That pack of cigarettes doesn't even fit in the trunk!

Seriously though as some people have already noted, a car doesn't have to be fast to be cool. They don't even have to look cool, my old pickup sure doesn't look cool. In fact the Trabant looks in better shape than my truck.

Remember that looks can be decieving.

I learned to drive stick on my dads Porsche 968 when he had it.
Various benz', and couple Z06' and up until I recently had an accident in my moms car, I made a point of occasionally stealing my dads 2001 BMW 740iL.

ohh and a few other porsches, boxters, 944s, 911, 911 turbos.

Probably the Mercedes-Benz E500, much of the manufacturing was actually performed by Porsche. Only available in Black.

The BMW M3 (E-30, the boxy boy racer body style) is the best handling car I have ever driven and a close second to the E500 for "coolness".

My friends Manx buggy with an 1835 and dual 48 Webbers. On a half tank of gas, that puppy could pull wheelies

DeTomaso Pantera, Porsche 930, Ford Mustang Boss 351, 70 Chevelle LS-6, 68 Shelby Mustang rag top 500KR(king of the road), 351w Cobra kit, 74 VW van and others....I was a car salesman so I drove almost everything.
My coolest ride was my 85 Alfa Romeo Grad; on a sunny day, I'd drive that puppy all over the island with a big grin on my face

Ah yes, I've ridden in these types of cars. In Eastern Europe(Poland, for example), these cars are still in use. Gotta love seeing a choke in a car. Trabant, Syrenka, Tavria(sp?). Ahh, and the infamous Fiat 125/126! I have memories of visiting poland 10 or so years ago, and driving from Poland to Germany(about 16 hours from where we were to where we were going) in a fiat 126. . . with 5 people.

I drove a friends Ferrari 308 GTS 20 years ago, when I was 18. We got a whole lot of looks because that was when Magnum PI was popular. I raced cars and had a few friends with waaaaay to much money! The most fun was a Reynard Formula Ford. I bought the car Jackson Young used to win the FF National Championship with, and it was a blast to drive - sideways all the time! Those of you who know the Road America circuit , I was once 150+ MPH backwards exiting the "kink" in a Swift DB-2! My dad used to have a '23 T-Bucket with a blown small block. It would scare the hell out of you because it had gobs of power, skinny front tires, basically no steering or breaks, an open top and no seat belts! He finally sold it after getting nailed for 126 in a 40 (over $2K with attorney costs). When you're young you think your invincible.
