I know this is an old post but same here - if I download mp3 320 or V0 from Bandcamp my C3 shows the famous "Play error!".
 
After it plays the mp3 but just 2-3 songs and then it stops. Also don't know how to fix it.
 
But instead my C3 plays the ogg files downloaded from Bandcamp w/o problems - I have to delete and add again the Tag with KID3 on my MAC first but after it plays along and along and...

I use flac files and my player is new, so I'm not sure... How long have you had yours?

Playing from internal Storage - never faced this Problem, playing from micro sd Card - it was a bad Card, changing the Card was the solution.

Wow, I'm glad other people are still enjoying the C3 and that I didn't have to necro this thread. :)
 
Anyone has a problem with the C3's display? Today it suddenly went all garbled and funny on me - and when I turned it off and on, the display was totally gone. The capacitive screen still works - or at least it lights up when I touch it - and I had hopes of using it blind, Shozy Alien-style but that didn't work either.
 
I've tried turning it off and on (yet) again, plugging it into a power source, sticking a pin in to the reset hole... is there anything else I should try?
 
Failing which, it could well be time to just let the C3 go, but it feels like my ER4S has lost a mate.
 
So... for those of you who have moved on, what's the modern-day equivalent of the C3?
 
I have a bunch of other DAPs kicking around - including the CK4+, X3ii, Xduoo X3 - but there's just something about the C3's transparency, black background and overall tone quality that makes me keep coming back to it. I like its form factor and simplicity as well (I didn't even know it had EQ until I revisited this thread today). And I don't know about the wisdom (or lack thereof) of buying another C3 in this day and age, so... come on folks, talk me out of it.

That's impressive that you like the C3 better, was that your daily DAP compared to the X3 and X3II? If so, I would buy another. ;)
 
Maybe you should look around at the Shanling M1 and Hidizks AP60?

Hm. The C3 still tops them in terms of sound, but my rockboxed X3 is the closest thing I have to a daily DAP atm - not without its own quirks but it's usable and I personally prefer its sound to that of the X3ii.
 
I've read up a bit on the M1 and AP60 but not had the opportunity to audition either of them. Have you - or anyone else - compared them specifically with the C3 in terms of sound? Or are we talking about apples and oranges here?

I was hoping that RockBox was released for the FiiO X3, I went to the site and it is for the XDuoo X3 instead...

Apples and Oranges. I've never heard any of those DAPs. However, they seem to be the most popular choice with members of our community right now.

I haven't encounter froze before...
1. Try press and keep hold on the ON/OFF button?
2. Try press ON/OFF button once, then press again and keep holding for 3~5 mins?
3. Try poke the small hole reset button?
4. If all else fails, wait for battery to drain off.
5. Good luck.

I received HE150 earbuds and I'm enjoying them with C3 + my diy cmoy amp. Imo HE150 sounds pretty decent with only C3 aswell, but my cmoy improves bass and imaging pretty nicely, and I actually like it more than NX1. It gives more airy and maybe slightly wider soundstage than NX1. HE150 is really fine earbud bargain.
