On the advice of this forum I've got a pair of the Panasonic RP-HJE900's which I loved until they recently broke*.  So can someone recommend a sub-$200 in-ear earphones with replaceable cables, good noise isolation and very good sound.  (Or if someone here has one for sale, please PM me.)  Thanks.

*One earbud cuts in and out, switched the cables, still the same problem.  Sometimes if I push and pull it out of my ear a bit it comes back on, but it's only a temporary fix.

Replacement/upgrade/ closest sound sig to Pana? Nothing? Stretching it might be the SonyEx1000 above your price range though.

Why not order another pair of HJE900 online?  Price seemed on the high side...  Rakuten is a reputed online mall in Japan.

Sound-wise, the FX700 is obviously the evolution of the HJE900. It does not have replaceable cables, though, which was stupid with the Pana anyway since the cables were perfect and replacement cables officially nowhere available.

The EX1000 clearly goes the wrong way.

You could try finding someone with a broken pair of HJE900s that have the working side you need for about USD 40-50.

I think you should also be able to find a working used set for ~$100.

Different ears and replacement cables are available you just need to search more.

For me, the GR07 is the next step up (or two) from the HJE-900. Great bass, better mids (more forward), with still great bite and sting in electric guitars. And the drums (I've said this many times before) I haven't heard better in any universal. The drums are the most dynamic and natural sounding I've heard in a universal (although I recently put some modded Shure olives on my Sony 7550 and have now heard details in the drum I haven't heard before. This doesn't surpass the GR07 but brings the Sony close to it in percussion).

Eric, you must really love those GR07s. I have come to associate your user name with GR07.

That would be a correct statement @ snakeeater (in the universal realm that is). My favorite IEM period is still my custom 1964-Q. And the W4 is also highly regarded within the universal realm for me.

Not got too many hours on them yet  ,most of my time is spent with the akg q701 and ah5000 but I do enjoy the little intricate nuance's of the gr07 treble buddy and the pitch and timbre of the drums are very realistic indeed ,  thanks for recommending them to me buddy Eric

I have a similar issue with my panny - one driver appears to have recently died; switching the cable does not help.  The good news is that between the two of us we likely have a working set :).  Contact me if interested.
