Hey all. Upon taking a new job; I'm now in a shared cubicle environment, and i'm finding the ambient noise distracting.  I've been using a pair of Sen MX 880's for a few years without complaints; but I think i'm in need of a bit more isolation.

My thoughts being comfort and isolation being paramount. Open floor plan means someone a few feet from me on either side (hence I'm leary of bringing my hd595s in..) and as it's open; i'd rather not need an  amp (though my 770s would be perfect...)

Budget would be ~100usd; I mostly listen to ambient/classical while working; though depending on mood anything could play...

My initial leader seems to be Senn hd280 or a700; though I'm not sure on comfort as I have a larger head...  Any suggestions welcome:)

-Chris

Summary:

Budget: ~100usd
Music: Mostly classical
Source: Thinkpad laptop

Non IEM, Isolation and comfort while playing music at low volumes being paramount.

I have a pair of HD280s (and I have a large head), and you'll run into fatigue issues after a few hours. Took a while before I could wear them without fatigue. As for recommendations, I would recommend MDR-V6s and get the Beyerdynamic velour earcushions. That should be around $90 USD.

I actually have a pair of replacement Beyer velour pads on order, 2 weeks into a 4-6 week back order though unfortunately, less someone knows a better place to order...

Not firm; though I am getting married in a month so cheaper means I'll get yelled at less when she sees the package on the doorstep:)  I have been wanting to try the AKG sound for a while now...

AKG's sound good with classical. But im not sure if this model will perform good without a headamp.

I think it's the Sennheiser MX 880 (earbuds). Those seem to be a bit out of the given price range.

I ended up ordering the k271MKII's.  Might power well stock out of my thinkpad, but if it doesn't I found a FiiO E5 I impulsed a while back that should fill it out a bit if needed... Sounds like a plan:)

Thanks for the recommendations.
