Hey guys, new here

I've been looking for a decent pair of closed back phones, if anything leaning toward the bassy end of the spectrum.

I reckon i've narrowed it down to AT a900's, or DT770-250 ? Im aware of the low impedence of the a900's, allowing me to power them straight portably, however would the 770/250s be more up to standard when powered by a FiiO e7?

thanks for your time if you're reading this

EDIT;

Im aware that the a900s arent as strong as they could be in the mids, as such would they benefit from the amp?
Under normal circumstances I gather that a900> dt770, however would an amped pair of dt770's bring these up and beyond the level of the AT's? I listen to a variety of music, but do enjoy rock and metal.

Only pair of phones I own are some XB700, as i'm a huge dubplate, dub and dubstep fan (the early stuff, none of this Skrillex etc) and these are great for large mellow bass, however i'm looking for a more grown up, more refined and tighter overall spectrum- but one that does not ignore the low end.

thanks again, and sorry for the double post :)

If you prefer a sound signature that's on the bassy side then the DT770 would likely be a better option for ya.  The E7 should be able power the 250 Ohm version well enough, though I if that is the amplifier you're eying then the 32 Ohm version might be more ideal for ya.

I have the 32 ohm 770s and i love them.  They do sound a little different than the 250 ohm versions though.  And they still need an amp to get the bass you want out of them.  As for the sound i see them compared more to the 600 ohm variant than the 250 ohm.  Somewhere theres a big thread about the differences between all of them.
