Chord Mojo issue solutions thread.

If it does turn out to be a fault with your Mojo unit, please don't feel that you have to abandon the optical input. Chord will simply ask you to return it to them, via your dealer, and will sort it out for you, one way or another. They stand behind the product (I'm assuming yours hasn't been damaged by misuse).

Even if you can see light coming from the toslink cable plugged into your AK120ii, it is still possible that the cable might have some damage that may be scattering the light or not transmitting it correctly into Mojos optical receiver. Can you try another optical cable?

Thanks, I will try the other cable I have again later when I get a chance. I think I already tried it before though after updating firmware, but I will try one more time now that I know what to look for with the light.

Thanks much for this informative post. I do see a red light, so I suppose that the cable and AK120 ii are in working order. The Mojo has not been plugged into other things during the tests.

I did try a different cable at one point, so I wonder if I did something at that point that hurt the connection on the Mojo. Or perhaps this Mojo unit always had a problem. A shame either way. I may have to look at alternatives for a mobile use of this Mojo unit, such as a USB compatible DAP.

Metalsludge,

I have great success with a coax connection between the FiiO X7 and the Mojo. However, I had very bad results trying to connect them via USB OTG cables (which weren't the most expensive of cables)... they either cut out the sound within seconds, or did not make the connection at all.

I also happily work the Mojo with my iPhone 6 Plus using the official Apple Camera Connection Kit (CCK).

... and the PC with JRiver Media Center. This is an awesome experience, especially with the "StereoTool" add-in.

Thanks for the warning about OTG. I may have to consider a coaxial DAP solution then. I already use Mojo with PC and JRiver, and it is indeed very nice. But I hope to get the mobile feature working as well someday.

I'm glad that smartphones are an option for the Mojo. But as I mentioned earlier in the thread, I don't have one and have been stubborn about getting one for reasons related to my line of work and security/privacy concerns. I was looking at the Pioneer DAPs as they don't use the Optical option that has given me some problems with the Mojo due to a possibly defective unit. But I am impatient and a spendthrift, so I may just buy another Mojo and use it with my current AK player after all, while using the current unit with a PC.

If you are based in Europe, you could order from this dealer, and bundle the mojo with the cable kit or the case for only an extra 10 euros.

Thanks for the tip, but I am based in North America, so will probably go with Moon Audio or something.

Incidentally, wow, everyone here has been so kind and helpful. A testament to Headfi, but also to how many folks happily use the Mojo, I imagine.

My first Mojo had a minor problem with the battery indication. Did not really affect its operation at all, but Moon Audio had me send it to them and they verified the problem and sent me a replacement. That was for a simple LED that did not light. If you contact the dealer you bought it from I'm sure Chord will take care of it for you.

Thanks, I may try that option. I'm glad they are willing to fix things.

For the record, the problem was not with the Mojo, it was with the AK player, even though the AK player appeared to be sending a signal and the light at the end of the cable appeared. Maybe it's too old and scratched or dusty in its connection somehow. AK player is years old and way outside of any warranty, so it's time to grab an AK70 maybe for a USB connection. Anyway, not Chord's fault.

using the tidal app, on a nexus 5x everything ok. But mojo is detecting/playing @ 192khz??

If you read post #3 of the main Mojo thread, and look at the section about connecting to microUSB / Android devices, you will see that Android automatically upsamples everything to 24/192.

It's a really stupid thing for the Android OS developers to have done, but in order to circumvent their stupidity, you need to use an app like Hiby or UAPP, which include their own USB audio driver, to enable bit-perfect output to Mojo, with no unnecessary upsampling.

UAPP (USB Audio Player Pro) is the most popular option.

Please read post #3 and then ask any further questions in that thread, if you have any, and plenty of people will help you

I'm trying to get my new Mojo working with my Sony NWZX100. Using the Walkman connection to usb, then into a usb otg cable, I'm getting no sound. Ideas? Bellow is a picture of my set up.

Please, there's no need to double-post.

Most people who read this thread also read the main Mojo thread, where you've already posted, and where people are already beginning to answer you

Thanks, I'll look to keep it in one thread going forward. I saw a couple different Mojo and Walkman threads.
