They both have a “sound” but neither “degrade”.How certain are you about this [Roon doesn't degrade sound], and why? Are you implying that LMS changes the sound, even if in a "pleasing" way?

This is a summary of what went before. I use the FrankenWoo II that I created essentially as a power amp because I have the volume on max and control the music volume with the Dave.Sorry if I missed a post by you. If you post a link I will read it.

Yes, I thought it was a one trick pony and I wanted a system that could properly playback a full range of music types.Have you ever experimented with high sensitive single driver speakers driven directly from Dave.. perhaps combined with an active sub? Like user @romaz did

I have 2 b/c cables for my scaler... high end but they are different lengths.... one is about 12 inches longer.... will this effect the sound?

The foot longer cable will delay the sound by about 0.000000001 second assuming the wave is at light speed transmission. Is that about a nanosecond? anyway probably not detectable by our human hearing. Happy to be corrected.

It's all depending on the receiving end. If Hugo2, Qutest or TT2, it wouldn't be an issue except for Dave.

As long the DAC locks to dual data youre ok.I have 2 b/c cables for my scaler... high end but they are different lengths.... one is about 12 inches longer.... will this effect the sound?
It will clock out its data buffer for L and R in sync.

so.... question. I have a new Utopia 2022 coming this week.... are you saying that Dave + dc4 should be all I need for this VS getting a WA23????? (side note I had a susvara several yrs ago and got rid of it.. didn't like it... no interest in hard to drive HPs)So, going back to the WA33 with my TC, from yesterday's DC4'd mDAVE session, and the impressions are as expected (to me at least). More bass bloom, smoother sound, fuller mids, larger soundstage, more forgiving of poorly recorded tracks. Both are good, but I like the WA33 better. I just like that "distortion," fuller mids and increased soundstage more. I guess it's not as "accurate" as the DAVE, but I'm fine with that. I like the WA33 tube "coloring."

Personal preference. You might like the tubes better, but you don’t necessarily need them.so.... question. I have a new Utopia 2022 coming this week.... are you saying that Dave + dc4 should be all I need for this VS getting a WA23?????

so DC4 seems to get to close to wa33 elite level for TC.. to me correlates to should be all I need for easy to drive Utopia 22? If this is the case DC4 would seem to give one hell of a bump to Dave?Personal preference. You might like the tubes better, but you don’t necessarily need them.
You don’t even need the DC4 for the Utopia. It can be driven just fine with a stock psu. But yes, the DC4 is a very nice upgrade. Better bass, authority, blacker backgrounds.so DC4 seems to get to close to wa33 elite level for TC.. to me correlates to should be all I need for easy to drive Utopia 22? I auditioned the wa23 at teh source in LA Friday... that's where I tried the utopia 22. they blew my lcd 4z out of the water... I was surprised with the bass.... as that was me reason for the 4z... the utopia 22 seemed much better out of the wa23 vs the stock Dave.... You might still prefer the wa23 over the DC4 Dave, Some people like tube distortion better than solid state. It’s really just personal preference.I auditioned the wa23 at teh source in LA Friday... that's where I tried the utopia 22. they blew my lcd 4z out of the water... when will a DAC be able to mimic a tube via some computational audio just like any filter in a photo app.... seem like will be possible in time. DAC with multi filters seems like a market not yet exploited. You might still prefer the wa23 over the DC4 Dave, Some people like tube distortion better than solid state. Maybe in the next DAVE. The Hugo2 and TT2 have filters that worked pretty well. Maybe there’s even an app to do it; I haven’t looked. Software solutions don’t tend to be as good as hardware solutions, but I’m sure they are getting better each year thoughwhen will a DAC be able to mimic a tube via some computational audio just like any filter in a photo app.... seem like will be possible in time.
