My time owning Poly is still very much a love-hate relationship. It's great when it works but it mostly doesn't for me.
Outside of simple Tidal HiFi and Spotify Airplay playback and 44.1khz FLAC files through Glider, I get all sorts of issues on my home wifi, iPhone hotspot and Poly's own hotspot mode.

Music playback is not smooth even when using Glider with high resolution files stored on the SD card. I cannot wait for further software updates as I want to like Mojopoly and use it more often. @Matt Bartlett I certainly do not want to start another series of posts complaining about the product but I would like to know when we should be expecting further improvements to be made.

I am using an exchanged unit so the likelihood of a hardware issue is not high. I have tried pretty much all means of playing music with Mojopoly and have not had that great of a success with anything but Airplay and hotspot mode with 44.1 khz files. I won't even mention Roon at this stage as Poly is still not certified (any idea when we should be expecting this to change)?

PM me and let's see if we can work out what is going on.

Hi @Matt Bartlett - do we have a current 2018 roadmap for the android GoFigure release? Can't come quickly enough imho. If you need beta testers please sign me up!

The roadmap was always to release the iOS version first as this is the most problematic to build and then follow on as quickly as possible with the Android version. I'll certainly keep you in mind for beta testing.

Don’t underestimate that it will be a simple quick build after the iOS App is released

In my experience (building mobile apps since the Nokia Symbian days) Android development can often be more problematic. This is due to the large number of different devices, standards and 3rd party manufacturer customisation.

There also tends to be a bigger spread of users on different versions of Android. Distribution of the firmware updates is often in the hands of the device manufacturer and not Google. For instance, Oreo has been available to the public since August but Samsung aren't likely to release until late Feb. Maybe later.

I think on average Android apps cost 30% more to develop, which reflects the extra effort needed.

I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir though and you already have efforts underway :)

This is by far our most popular feature request, so hopefully we'll get to it before too long.

I also wanted to say thanks for all the recent praise and support many of you have shown us here at Glider. It's sincerely appreciated!

Any intentions of releasing an Android version?

As an early MojoPoly user who’s has had no problems whatsoever, I am now encountering a problem for the first time which I don’t recall seeing mentioned previously. My Poly seems to be stuck in Roon mode and I cannot make it change from that setting. Has anyone else encountered this?

I may be making a stupid/obvious mistake in which case, hopefully someone can verbally slap me and point it out!

Here’s what I’m doing:
Put Poly into Access Point mode
Join Poly network
Play Mode Settings web page
Select ‘Other’ as the Play mode
Select ‘Save’ and ‘Reboot on Save’

When Poly reboots, Glider cannot see it. When I open Roon, Poly still shows as an available Zone and I can successfully play music from Roon through MojoPoly. When I repeat the procedures set out above, the Play Mode shows as ‘Other’ and not as ‘Roon’, so it seems to be saving the change on the webpage but not on the Poly. I must be connecting with Poly as opposed to viewing an old webpage because Poly does reboot upon saving the change. I’ve tried changing the Play mode to Roon and then gone through the same process to put it back into ‘Other’ but no matter what I do, Poly remains locked in Roon mode whether the Play Mode settings page shows the Play Mode as Roon or Other. I have Repeated the procedure about a dozen times so far with no luck and thought I’d better check here to see whether I am making a stupid error or whether anyone else has encountered this. Normally, this is a simple change for me to make and it has always worked okay.

Hopefully, someone can point out an obvious error in my method and save me from frustration.

Poly is on fw 1.0.10

Your Poly might be using AirPlay. When you look at the audio settings in Roon check to see if it is a zone or an AirPlay device. If it’s using Poly via AirPlay set Roon to play via a different zone - your computer speakers will be fine, then try Glider again. This should release the AirPlay connection from Roon so your other devices will work.

Thank you Matt, MojoPoly does show as a Roon ready device when in Roon mode and as an AirPlay device when in Other mode. This is what you would expect, although I wasn’t expecting it because
I had previously disabled Poly as an Airplay device inside Roon, so I’m not sure why Roon has enabled it - I have disabled Poly again but also renamed it as Poly Airplay to flag it should the status change in Roon reoccur.

That explains one half of the puzzle, but Poly still does not show up in Glider. I checked 8Player and Poly shows up as a music player/renderer but not as a Server. I haven’t used MojoPoly for SD card playback for a while, but it all worked seamlessly before tonight. There have been updates to both 8Player and Glider since I last used them, so I need to look into that. I seem to recall reading that Joe had changed Glider from DNLA to a different mode for Poly, so I need to look into that when I get time.

Ok. If you can’t see Poly as a server check your SD card. Perhaps take it out and make sure it is working on your computer. If Poly doesn’t detect an SD card then the server will not run.

Doh! I feel the hankering to listen to some music tonight. I had better spend the next half hour power cycling the Mojo so Poly can turn on in time!

Yes, we'd like to do an Android version at some point.

I would ask for a Windows Phone version but why make an app for the three people still using them, right?
