Those could easily be converted by XLD or something to ALAC and still be lossless. I archive everything as AIFF but used ALAC for the SD card do get about double on there. No difference in sound.

I suppose I could however Poly is the only playback device i own that has an issue with .aiff playback. To be fair, if I had confidence in Poly's ability to power on and play music consistently, I would consider converting my library. Unfortunately there are several flaws which bring about frustration during times when I'm trying to relax; it kills the vibe :p

I can appreciate the complexity of the product being a monumental factor in maximizing stability and performance. I often struggle with similar challenges at work with an even harder audience than you guys. I simply don't see the logic in trading my few moments relaxation toward troubleshooting the Poly when I own other playback devices which work without issue. If I had root access to it's Unix OS and an open source driver repository for it's various subsystems I could probably have some fun with it

Success!

Well, moderate success.

I finally got Poly to play audio again. Ther's still something goofy happening when Poly is in Access Point mode and setting up the wifi stuff in the Poly GUI. Glider still does not detect Poly in order to play from SD card in DLNA/AirPlay/MPD mode. However, both Deezer and Spotify detected and play audio to the Poly (now temporarily affectionately named "poopy") in the same mode. This is all done through my old iPad. Not sure what the scoop is with Glider. I am wondering if there is a method to "factory reset" Poly to ensure I'm starting from square one troubleshooting this. Glider worked on previous firmware prior to 1.0.10. In fact, everything was working rather well prior to the last update. Hoping Chord can get issues ironed out and GoFigure app RELEASED SOON.

But in the meantime me & Poly are on speaking terms again. The config tool & I are not.

Exactly what I do...
Rip my CD into FLAC, converted all my wave and aiff files into FLAC as well... all with XLD.
Don’t hear any difference with the originals, FLAC bring lossless but occupying slightly less space than the originals.

Just to stick my oar in – I'm one of the silent maj- or min- ority [delete as applicable] that's quietly getting on with things with a Poly that works, when it's in the right mood, but who certainly isn't over the moon with current performance. Obviously waiting on Patch 3 and the App before making my mind up as to whether the device works as advertised or not.

My use cases are:

  • Use Case 1: Home listening via Roon when at my desk.
  • Use Case 2: Using via iPhone hotspot and SD card when travelling / commuting.

On Use Case 1: Like others that have commented on this thread, my wifi network is fine. I've got a lot attached to it (Bluesound, Hue, Apple TV, various computers and consoles, etc), and it works flawlessly with everything else. Roon on Poly is generally fine, but I have occasional dropouts. Nothing too bad, but surprised that I get them at all. I wouldn't expect such a device to suffer from dropout whatsoever – particularly when said Apple TV is more than happy wirelessly streaming HD content without any problems (also: Bluesound – another smallish audio specialist – their UI is horrendous (companies like Bluesound / Chord really should outsource their dev to app specialists – imagine how cool GoFigure would be if they got Dude From Glider to sort it out for them?), but at least the wifi performance is flawless). I'm generally listening to CD-quality, or 96/24.

On Use Case 2: Way more hassle than Use Case 1. I suffer from the 'won't turn on' problem. Opening the case, breaking apart MojoPoly, and reconnecting usually does the trick, but not always. I don't really want to have to open the case each time, to be honest – don't want to wear out the lock mechanism. Having to remember the SIM pin (I'm not calling it a 'Configuration Tool', sorry!) has bitten me on the backside on more than one occasion. I have problems getting the MojoPoly to recognise my iPhone hotspot. I have problems with MojoPoly staying connected to it (typified by 8Player not moving to the next track until I've jumped back into my phone; very much looking forward to making the switch to Glider, btw – 8Player is horrible). I know I can connect to MojoPoly's own hotspot, but that means I can't use my phone, and that's not an option for me. Plus: it's a workaround, and a flawed one at that, and I shouldn't have to.

So yeah, patiently waiting. Not pro-Poly (although I'd like to be), not anti-Poly. Just waiting.

Glider still does not detect Poly in order to play from SD card in DLNA/AirPlay/MPD mode.

The first two issues @JeremyLaurenson has documented here might explain what's going wrong: http://www.map-pin.com/wiki/doku.php?id=chordpoly-issues-index.

This means that under certain conditions, the Poly will only be visible to the first DLNA app launched on your phone, and only for a limited time after the Poly boots up. I would try rebooting both the Poly and your phone to see if that clears it up. If not, send me a PM and we can investigate further.

Hi Joe,

If I startup Glider without a current Poly connection (unknown to me as I think it's working) the music would play out on my phone, unheard by me if I have headphones or iem's in place.

Would it be possible to have a default output (e.g Poly) if set by the user so this does not happen, or is there already a way to prevent this?

I am being asked to sign-in to the Sandbox on multiple occasions even after doing the purchase action in the sandbox. Have bought the official app properly a while ago. Is this a change in behaviour from your side or TestFlight?

PS Have you contacted Chord about the bluetooth control of sd-card and music selection to see if they are releasing the details for app coders? If so you may beat them with the first working control app :) for Poly users.

Mostly all appears to be ok as far as I know.
BT, DLNA, fine appart from DSD.
Having Poly in hotspot and playing directly off the SD card with Glider and MPdeluxe. OK. ... IOS
Android using BubbleUpnp and HiFi Cast no Problem.
Connection to home network is slow but solid once there.
Poly starts up connected to Mojo no problem.

Can't play DSD yet, I thought lastest FW enabled DSD over DLNA ?

Only other issue I have but don't know if it's Poly or not. I get a nasty crackling using Airplay a few times before it settles down.
Occasionally it will crackle, throw Poly out and switch back to iPhone, anyone else or just me experiencing that one?
It's a new iPhone SE.

Glider will always begin playing on the previously selected output. If you tap or drag the lower toolbar up (where the small cover art and song title is), then it will expose the now playing screen with the selected output on the bottom. You should be able to tap on the output to choose your Poly instead.

You can expect this to happen each time you install a new version or re-install a version from TestFlight. Once you go through the purchase at least once from the sandbox account, you should be able to use the 'Restore Purchase' button instead.

This is strange. Poly is now showing as software version 1.0.5
Previously it upgraded from 1.0.6 to 1.10

Has anyone else had this happen?
There have been a few times where an old web page is shown when the Poly has not actually provided the real info. Probably your Poly had v1.0.5 when first sold. Older models did not show any number in the same scenario.

Most likely you have not connected to Poly - try & recheck your connection.

WOW- the latest Testflight version of Glider is a revelation! I have been enjoying some marvellous sound for the past hour or so without a single issue. Kudos to @joe28 for his incredible work these past few weeks. I believe Glider was updated two or three times this week alone.

I do feel that Chord would benefit from working with him and his team more closely!

Glad you’re liking Glider. I am working closely with Joe - the new version with MPD happened after a conversation we had :grinning:
