All I want for Christmas is the GoFigure app. Only 8 days away!

I found a few phone apps that are supposed to pair with the Poly, on the What Hi-Fi review of the Poly. https://www.whathifi.com/chord/poly/review

I still would be keen to hear from folk to say if Android phones that are used to operate the Poly pairs well. Just to control files on the SD card, and not for any other function. Please can anyone say if that is nice and stable.

Using BubbleUPnP I could easily playback files from my phone to Mojo with no dropouts whatsoever.

But if all of your music is on Spotify/Tidal and you have an Android device such as myself, the most reliable way of playback is Bluetooth so far. Which admittedly is quite forgiving yet still very resolving and musical.

If only I could configure my phone in static hotspot mode the same way I could with iPhone, that way I could use the Airplay protocol on my Android phone.

Same here. Very stable when using outside with my Android phone (as hotspot) and Bubbleupnp. Very fast access to both (large) SD cards (in the phone and in the Poly).
And also quite stable at home. I even played 192/24 transcoded WAV files without any dropouts (from a NAP using Asset as DLNA server/transcoder).

A few minor issues: missing artwork from the Poly SD card, very rarely it jumps in the middle of a track to the next track

My new router is from Time Warner: MediaAccess Gateway TC871`5D. It runs on 2.4 and 5. I apologize for delay.

Glider: we're loving it.

OT: Mojo alone.

Interestingly enough, I went with the iOS update, as I thought it was now safe. My nice connection cord from Latvia no longer works with Mojo. A second one was the same: initially playing but then "this device is not supported" with cut out. I discovered this at an ice hockey arena.

I'm glad Mojo/poly has 2 ports to share.

Now I have to consider my choices:

buying 2nd poly OR waiting for the price of Hugo2 "to go" module announced, OR, listen to my wife's music, which is not always to my taste, OR
listening to Finishing School Drop Out Hockey Moms yelling things that would make a truck driver blush, while they are being escorted out of the arena.

Decisions, decisions....

Well, if you have a Hugo 2, then that would seem an easy decision?!

If I buy Poly and a smart-phone, then I will only be using music stored on the SD card. That's what I wanted.

All the ROON, Wi-Fi, blu-tooth, and whatever else Poly does, is of no interest to me right now.

Just get the cheapest device you can find that will run the iOS/Android app when its released. You can't avoid Bluetooth though its how your device of choice will control music playback.

Hi guys!

I have had the Poly for two days now. It´s been somewhat frustrating up until today when I decided to get an Asus Wireless-AC750 wifi extender. Using BubbleUPnP or M.A.L.P was very slow and sluggish and I suspected the bad wifi coverage in my house.
Theory confirmed. After installing the extender today Poly has so far worked flawlessly. Both UI speed and playback has been very stable for hours now. Crossing my fingers it lasts:) (Although M.A.L.P runs just as sluggish)

But one BubbleUPnP issue I hope you guys can help with: unless I initially hit the "master" play button at the top of playlists or albums, playback always stops after each track and the skip forward button doesn´t work. Very annoying. I am spanking new to this DLNA thing and BubbleUPnP and would very much appreciate your help. For info I´m using a Sony Xperia X Performance.
Thanks!

To answer my own question I just found a solution to this. In BubbleUPnP: Settings>Library>Behavior>Item tap action I changed it from "Play tapped item" (which was default) to "Play items from tapped pos". Now playback behaves like within every other app I use with the next track of the album/playlist playing automatically in sequence.

This means as of now my PolyMojo setup works flawlessly both at home connected to wifi and on the go with Poly connecting to my phone´s wifi share point. With this setup I can avoid the needle and hotspot procedure completely (which is a huge relief). I will report back if I run into any new issues.

For the record my complete setup is PolyMojo - Asus Wireless-AC750 extender - Sony Xperia X Performance running BubbleUPnP.

I agree, we're very lucky that Chord has allowed us to buy their product. I can't understand why anyone would think that a pin isn't the perfect user interface. I think an App would be overkill.

Yes, and we should all change our network gear because it's obvious that it's not Poly that isn't working correctly. And while we're at it, let's all buy new USB chargers, because obviously it's not the Poly's fault that it can't be powered on.

Indeed, we're all whiners who should stop complaining, why on earth are we expecting Chord to deliver updates when they say they will? I feel so privileged that they occasionally turn up the forum to explain why we are at fault.

I'm proud that chord have allowed me to spend £500 on a product with less functionality then a Raspberry PI!
Send it back.
Have you thought it might be faulty, I’ve spent no money on routers etc etc and my unit works fine.

I have to agree, if I felt such strong negative feelings towards any product, it would be back where it came from and my credit card refunded. Life is too short to get this stressed over any product.

Without being facetious, I really suggest that you wait until the "to go" is available and has received early independent reviews before you purchase. As we have seen, there can be a long time between "announcement" and a functional product being delivered.

My unit and many others function thanks

Sorry about the hockey moms. I can confirm that the latest iOS makes it much more difficult to connect Mojo to an iPhone or iPad. I have even had trouble using the Apple adaptor.

Useful info, thanks - is that 11.2.1? I’m holding off on that, as I always do with iOS updates, until I know whether it’s clear to go or not.

It may or may not help others but BT hubs in the UK as far as I’m aware don’t support DLNA, BT told me that they offer no support or configure their routers to play nicely with DLNA.
I’ve had less issues with all my streaming devices since switching to Sky for broadband. It is probably unrelated but thought it worth a mention.

Poly #1 - lots of buffering issues. Poly would continuously drop out and then fall off the network/hotspot using Tidal, SD card through 8 player and I would only get 2 seconds of music through Roon before disappearing from the network. I exchanged it for another Poly in the event that it was faulty.

Poly #2 - Had it for all of 3 hours. I got it home, un-boxed it and went to put it on charge when I noticed what sounded like a brick rattling about inside. I presume the battery had not be properly secured. Took it back and the retailer had no further stock. I took back Poly #1 in the event that the FW update would sort out the problems - it did not. In fact it made it worse as it would no longer connect even via bluetooth.

Poly #3 - After 6 weeks of becoming increasingly frustrated with Poly, my retailer got new stock. I exchanged it, and since then (about a week), Poly #3 has seemed to work pretty much flawlessly (exactly the same settings as on the previous Poly). I still get about one 10-30 secs period of buffering over a listening period of about 4 hours and I have also had a couple of instances where Poly has not turned off. I have then gone into config mode to reset Poly and all has been fine.

I understand that Chord want/need to iron out all the firmware issues before considering replacing units as they won't want a 1000 working Poly's returned but it's been a frustrating process.

I do have to say, their email support has always returned my emails in a timely manner and been very helpful. At the point they could help me no longer, they did suggest to replace the unit.

I'm now a happy Poly user and I look forward to the App and Chord making all the other users happy customers.

Merry Christmas everyone!

+1.

I too think Glider is currently the best App for MojoPoly, i think it was @NYanakiev who brought Glider to this Thread. Very good find, i instantly bought it. I think i bought nearly all audio apps in the Appstore. It's a big mess.

May I just ask if glider will support DSD file play back? I have Poly working fine with all bar DSD.
It's not that i have many, my old ears struggle to hear a great difference tbh, however there is some pleasent difference that i cant quite put my finger on. So id like to be able to play them if possible. I presume the "go figure" app will have that capability, in the mean time though.
