I really wish Roon would come out with an app that would control poly (sd card) without having to be on the same network as your server.

I have tried and paid for lots of IOS apps in the last few days to control poly when not on my home network and think I have decided mconnect is probably the best all around.

8player pro is nice but I can’t seem to get it to play gapless with my live albums.

Rigelian refuses to display my album art located in my flac folders.

JPlay doesn’t display my album art correctly, it distorts it somehow and doesn’t have a browse by folder option unless I am missing it. For some reason it only shows some of my albums with only a song or 2. Plus the yearly fee is absurd.

Neutron seems to be ok, but it has quite a few options that I haven’t quite figured out if they do anything when utilizing poly.

Is JRiver an option?

Is anyone utilizing anything else?

Do any of these apps play directly from the poly to mojo 2 or do they all stream to the app and then back to poly? I only ask because it seems the volume control works on most of the apps.

For your album art, did you save a file as cover.jpg in each folder? The MPD on poly only recognizes cover.jpg (or png) album art files. Rigelian has an okay album art retrieval function, but it's not nearly Roon level.

You can use mp3 tag to batch create cover.jpg files in each album folder.

Doing the above, both Rigelian and MAFA display all my album art.

Yeah, for Rigelian, I had to go back and rename all of the artwork in my folders to cover.jpg. It was tedious, but it worked.

Thank guys, I will have to look what the album art is labeled in each folder. I ripped my entire collection years ago in dbpoweramp and the name is whatever it selected. I thought that I also embedded the album art as well, perhaps that was when I converted to ogg or mp3. It’s been a long time and I have slept many times since then.

Has anyone used neutron? It seems that the peq actually works when utilizing mojo2/poly. I am not sure how especially if it plays directly from poly to mojo without sending the stream to Neutron first.

My thought would have been that it is streaming to Neutron and then back to poly as I notice some lag and stuttering occasionally.

Rigelian allows you to choose any filename for the cover art.
I’m unsure about the range of file types that it can use - but I have used .jpg and .gif, Rigelian may support any valid image file type.

Also the Poly in Hotspot mode is confirmed working in iOS 17.6.

The problem is the Poly onboard MPD player album art retrieval is only compatible using cover.jpg. Even though Rigelian allows alternate names, it really doesn't work as well as having the album artwork as cover.jpg. The latest version of MPD is much more flexible including using other names for folder art. However, we are stuck with what we got. Rigelian's album art retrieval feature is nice, but in my experience still inferior to just putting a cover.jpg in each album folder.

That is my experience as well. Rigelian really likes seeing that cover.jpg file.

Can't believe Poly still has these issues. I returned mine and wont be buying another.
@TokenGesture while I have been able to make Poly work in most of my use cases it took way too much work and tweaking network setup. Poly is so outdated both in hardware and software terms than I believe it is broken in unfixable way. Nevertheless I have learned my lesson: Chord makes great dacs and amps but stay away from their streamers. Glad I've learned this lesson with Poly instead of much more expensive combo like 2go/Hugo 2 or 2go/2yu :)

The reason why I keep it, I love it’s sound quality, the only thing that has this typical sound is my tt2+mscaler. I have a sp2000 and I use it less than the mojo+poly for my iems. But propably will get a sp3000 as well, the first one that actually sounded better to me than the poly+mojo2 combi

But it has it quircks, it works fine for me now because I use Roon and Maximum MDP for sd card.

You need a decent network as well, I found out many networks are a mess after measuring and testing, found out Asus is one of the few mesh networks that decently support both wifi 2.4 AND 5 in a mesh configuration

I see what you mean though.

Keep Poly for mobile use, at least not home WiFi, only ever have one WiFi network on it, your phone's Hotspot, stick a micro SD card in it and use your app of choice and its great. Probably another one of Poly's limitations but I enjoy taking Poly for a walk and take your music to work days.

I don't know how many if any are using Neutron Player to control Poly (IOS version), but aside from having to buy first ($9) the app delivers. Bit perfect, embedded album art is displayed. Player on lockscreen and EQ options galore. If anything, there might be too many options (sarcasm). Just another option for those looking for a current software solution for Poly.

Thanks, I thought I'd give it a go so I paid my £8.99 and connected my phone to Poly, nope not working for me Neutron can't see Poly despite M Connect seeing Poly and being able to play stuff.

Any tips?

under settings go to "output to" and choose Poly
then go to media library and choose "sources", then choose which files to scan
