Chord 2Go & 2Yu Wired/Wireless Network streamer and S/PDIF adaptor - Official thread

Where did Chord say that they don't have anyone? That contradicts the fact that they made a change to produce new firmware in the first place.
it's what they haven't said. My daughter graduated 8th grade when 2go was released. She graduated from high school yesterday. In that 5 year span they went from making all kinds of promises to ghosts and blaming angry consumers for their leaving is a ludicrous reason

Exactly. Chord are not going to say that they can't do any software development and its too expensive to consider investing more into the 2Go and Poly as that will alienate the existing customer base and probably some people would reconsider purchasing the product if they just came out and stated we are not going to develop it anymore.

I own both 2Go and Poly, use both several times a week and am more than happy with the performance and feature set of them, anyone that fits into that category could do way worse with another streamer in my opinion too.

I'd like Qobuz connect but the subset of people with a Chord streamer that also want Qobuz connect must be tiny so it is what it is.

I'm in agreement. I bought the 2go knowing what it could do, not what I was hoping it would be capable of in the future. It would be nice if more features were added in the future, but I am not hedging my bets on it.

Before I landed in my current career, I did enterprise installations of networking gear. I have a network stack in my home that could run a medium-sized business. I already knew that the 2go was dated when I bought it. In all actuallity, the networking implementation was dated when the thing came out.

But I enjoy my 2go. For the short time I've had it, the thing has brought me joy - and that's about all I could ask for.

My latest 2Go woe is that the left SD card slot won’t eject. 😂

I’ll try tweezers.
I have heard that in a few cases, a cause of this has been a swollen 2go battery.

Thanks guys. That’s not ideal 🤦‍♂️

Update. Chord have me sending the 2Go to my local service provider here in Australia. I’ve asked about potential repair cost and they won’t commit to anything, which is fair enough. I do hope it’s not an overly expensive fix.

Yes and now that Chord have nobody to make the firmware changes it seems a bit disingenuous to keep promising a fix.

I'm retired from software now so I do have a bit of time on my hands to work on software projects on a volunteer basis if Chord did get in touch... I'm not holding my breath though.
I too could be tempted to volunteer, when I retire in a few months.
However because Chord have already teased that a TT range streamer is on the way, I expect that the coding support is already in place, and that there will be no need for volunteers.

How's the 2go2yu combo with other steamers like Fiio R9?

I'd not seen that, do you have a link? If it's a TT range product then it's more of a desk based streamer? They probably shouldn't give up on the current Poly and 2Go either because potential owners may be upset, they didn't deliver on a lot of promises. A new product would be highly unlikely to have the same outdated hardware as the Poly and 2Go so would they still update firmware in the legacy products? No I think Chord still need our help.

The 'tease' is in this video interview.

Regarding the streaming platform:
  1. Initially Chord just referred to the 'Poly firmware'
  2. In 2018 the terminology changed slightly to 'we are continuing to work on both Poly and its wider platform'
  3. In 2019 the terminology was clarified slightly to 'However we are looking at different options and for the long term future nothing is off the table as we continue to develop the Poly streaming platform.', which included Poly & 2Go
  4. In 2025, I can imagine the terminology changing slightly to the Chord streaming platform.', which includes Poly, 2Go & TT streamers

Regarding GoFigure:
  1. In 2020 there was a post stating that GoFigure was 'common' code for Poly and 2Go, and GoFigure tailors its UI according to whether it is connected to Poly or 2Go.
  2. In 2025, I can imagine the same approach being followed, but extended to include the Poly, 2Go & TT streamers

Just my opinion but I think that Chord have an opportunity now to revisit the Poly & 2Go, and see if any of the 2017 design decisions can now be revised, for example:
  • a larger Poly case could allow 2 SD card slots, and harmonise the firmware code with 2Go
  • an on/off button to allow the Poly battery to last longer
  • 5 GHz wifi
I know that there were reasons for those 2017 decisions, but they created rods for Chords back, and resulted in many angry posts, so a review could be useful.
Plus of course the long-running needs for Google Casting, Spotify Connect, Qobuz Connect, etc.

So you are correct that there could be some opportunities.

2go + 2yu combo is a game changer — seamless streaming with killer sound!
Nice post thanks. Which DAC are you using, I’m wondering?

I have a 2go Hugo2 combo that I use with my Dan Clark Audio NOIRE X cans for travel use. Great sound for sure!
