Chinese / Asian Brand Info Thread (On or Over Ear Headphones)

Sound isolation/leakage on BH-470 is quite good actually, over average for closed can for sure, but I find pads tad too soft and needed to install extra inner circle of foam strip to keep it further away and also tad improve soundstage. Stock pad material is very comfy and soft but it is thin. So, getting pads with thicker coating material and thicker/firmer foam will improve it to very good in isolation probably
Anyway, with tad over average listening vol. and with added foam, my co-workers haven`t said anything about annoying them.

After spending more time with the BH-470 how do you find them in terms of sound quality (at stock)? Which headphones would you compare them to in the closed back category?

I'm starting to see them online in more places so I'm considering picking up a pair to try out.

I totally agree with the KEF M500, and will also add the following below list of my favorite on ear headphones.

A few on the list can be bought as cheap as $40-$50 due their older release date. All are built solid, and many have premium metal build, leather, etc.
  • 1More H1707 triple driver (advertised as over ears but really on ear)
  • 1More MK801 (another one advertised as over ear but are really in ear)
  • Beyerdynamic DT-1350
  • Meizu HD50 (rock solid all metal build, tremendous value at $50)
  • Philips Fidelio M2L (Has a built in iOS lightning DAC). A non iOS version would be the Philips Fidelio M1
  • Sennheiser Momentum
  • Sennheiser Urbanite
Last May, I bought the M500 and the DT1350 NIB, cheap. I have the same problem with both of the units I have. They sound really bad without EQ. I have several IEMs, the Koss KSC75, and the Massdrop/AKG M220 pro, and I didn't have that problem with any of them. Now, EQ'ed, the M500 and DT1350 sound better than anything else I have, but I don't understand why they need EQ to be listenable at all. I'm almost wondering if I got bad units in both cases.

When you EQ, what are you changing? In other words, what areas sound bad enough that you’re EQing it (whether boosting or cutting)? Like, a painful spike at 7k, etc.

I’ll see if mine have the same sound as yours.

Without EQ, they have an overall lack of resolution, and sound fuzzy or "wooly". With the DT1350, I've been using an EQ profile someone posted on Reddit. He called it "Balanced AF", and it works well with the M500, too. Actually, I just took the M500s out of the box yesterday. Here it is:

GraphicEQ: 10 -1.9; 19 -2.4; 37.5 -5.1; 64.9 -6.5; 126.2 -10; 230.1 -10; 446.8 -7.3; 856.8 -4.7; 1581 -2.2; 2955.4 -0.4; 5456 0; 10473.9 -3.1; 18391.3 -7.4

I pasted that in a text file to use in Equalizer APO. The AutoEQ profile for the Beyerdynamic T51p works well, too.

Found these earpads recently and they work beautifully on the Lyxpro HAS-30 (ISK MDH9000, Marantz MPH-2 rebrand).

Sharing is caring.

EAP reportedly hated the Behringer headphone. At least one of his short stories was inspired by a listening session gone terribly wrong...
Late to the party, but is the Behringer BH 470 any good? This guy: mind = blown.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/behringer-...0&qid=1582479716&s=musical-instruments&sr=1-1

BH-470 seems to be on amazon too now.
Wish someone compared it to MPH-2. Always wanted to get Marantz version but price is way higher than clones.

Btw, ordered those two variants of brown pads for BH-470 to improve isolation and fit:
1) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32863548763.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.48d32e0eOsY10A
2) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33001354240.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.48d32e0eOsY10A

Atm, I think I need to revert my housing isolation/damping mods as I think in stock it sounded better without so prominent 5-7kHz small hill

any impressions, or news on the changes you've made?

i got mine a few days ago, and i'm really enjoying it, but since it's my first over ear headphone i'm not sure if my impression is relevant lol.

I saw your post and decided to pull off the brainwavz angled pads off my m40x and try them on my MPH-2. It was a bit of a struggle to stretch them on but they got on eventually.

Bass is a bit reduced and the highs are a bit more elevated. I don't mind the sound and might stick with them for the time being.

Nice find!
I put Brainwavz sheepskin earpads on all of my over-ear headphones.

At one point, for reasons I don't recall, I tried various pads on my Marantz MPH-2s, including MrSpeakers Alpha pads; Brainwavz sheepskin angled pads; and Brainwavz oval pleathers. The larger pads distorted the sound quite a bit, and none of these pads in any way "improved" the sound.

As soon as I put the Marantz stock pads back on, that familiar excellent sound returned. I haven't messed with the MPH-2s since then.

I don't have the angled Brainwavz sheepskin earpads, but the Accessory House sheepskin earpads have a different foam and it's not as dense and barely "memory" foam, but I actually like the sound signature with these earpads. Spaciousness is increased, bass slam is nice, and mids are present. I'm running the Lyxpro out of my iFi xDSD.

OK I think you were right. After doing more listening with the angled pads I was starting to get ear fatigue. Went back to the stock pads again and I'll probably stick to them.
