N3proSo i finally listened to the N8... I'm in love. I prefer it to the sp1k and sp2k that i auditioned next to it. I just can't afford it xD
Are there any alternatives comparable to the n8? I haven't heard many daps, I'm looking into a shanling m8 and a dx300 MAX but a more experienced guiding hand would be really helpful

So, we were told that we should have news about N8 successor about this time.....where should I look for it ?
I am also very interested in any updates on the next iteration.
Trial runs were planned to conclude no earlier than December so unfortunately looks like we can't slot this in as a Christmas present to self
Will keep waiting for next update from Andy...

It was clear it would be early 2022 not end of 2021 I'd rather have Cayin take its time and do it right
N8ii is going to be THE dap for 2022 I bet

That would be it release date, isn’t it ? I am simply asking for any developments, or just Some specs, or something.....we were told that the announcement woulda been somewhere October or November in some shows in China ? I cant read Chinese so I don’t know much about it....but we have had no updates since then.It was clear it would be early 2022 not end of 2021 I'd rather have Cayin take its time and do it right

it would be nice to just get a statements like “originally, Cayin was planning to announce the details or some of the N8 successor, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, Cayin have delayed it until 2030”....honestly, I wouldn’t care if they wouldn’t release it until 2050.... I am just sad that we were told to look forward to something, and then it never happened....not a way to do business at all

Yeah sure... this would eventually lead to people taking other options if there is no visibility.
I think part of the problem for brands is supply lines are so constrained it's hard to announce availability... look at Shanling M9... was announced should have been release and finally seems to be coming up...

Hello
Can anyone recommend a 1TB minimum external SSD that works well with the N8, please? Goes without saying it needs to be small, fast and reliable but would really appreciate any comments, endorsements or warnings.
Thanks

Why not micro SD, I use an 1Tb SanDisk Extreme Pro and it works great

Couldn't agree more on the suggestion to use micro SD, cheapest 1TB e.g. at BHPhoto currently is $129 (I remember buying $1TB cards at $500 a piece ...)
Out of interest, can someone (maybe @Andykong ) say if there would be a difference running the A02 module into the C9 vs the N8 into the C9 through line-out, given they use the same DAC architecture? I.e., is there any advantage to using the N8 over the A02 in this situation?

I personally rate the N8 line out slightly above A02 but they are very close, the performance different is hardly justified by the cost between N8 and N6ii+A02.
The N8 line out is benefited by the MUSE02 LPF and a more efficient power supply system for purist OS.

Many thanks. That's interesting to hear. I'll probably stick with A02, then, and wait (eagerly) for N8ii.I personally rate the N8 line out slightly above A02 but they are very close, the performance different is hardly justified by the cost between N8 and N6ii+A02.

Please let me know if the N8 has true line out on the 4.4, or just the 3.5 is true line out? Thank you!

True line out in both 3.5mm and 4.4mm, one of the very few (or the only one?) among DAPs when we announce N8. You can check out the functional diagram at opening post if you want to know the detail circuit path.
