Cayin N7: A Voyager of Unexplored Frontier

I recommend taking it to the store where you bought it. Probably have a broken connector, this is only for repair. This company's products are very poorly made.. @Andykong will not help you. forget about it, he's just here for the advertising and nothing more. My player also died, I wrote to @Andykong and he is still silent (more than 3 weeks have passed).

Draw conclusions about the quality of this company’s products when expensive devices fail for no reason.

After this incident, I will not buy products from this company and will in every possible way discourage everyone from buying.
Hahahah

So thin, I had several readers of this brand and I have always been delighted, the Cayin N5 II, then the N6 Ti then now the N7.
This does not allow me to exchange music files with the reader but I can do it through a card reader ... more tedious, because you have to turn off the reader then remove the card from the N7, copy the sic thanks card reader then put it back inside the reader ....
I'm going to write a mesage to Andykong who in my memories were very responsive and an extraordinary defender of this brand (he tired, the brand knows too much feedback now?)
Thank you for your messages that lit me on the situation.

I didn't chip in because other users have suggested options already, I don't see myself as the appropraite first contact point when users run into problems. I strongly recommend local dealer as the first contact point on all after sales support issue.

There isn't a lot of feedback on this topic, I assume most users don't enconunter similar problem, maybe they prefer to copy files to SD card via card reader, maybe they didn't encounter similar problem when they connect their N7 DAP to their PC. I belongs to the later group which might sound discouraging to you.

Since I can't suggestion any solution to resolve your problem, I can only provide a detail record of what I have encountered when when I copy file from my desktop PC to the internal storage and SD card of my N7 DAP.

1. This is before I connect the DAP to my desktop PC

2. When I connect the N7 to my desktop PC, Window will pop up a window immediately. At this point, I didn't insert any SD card into N7, so only Internal Stoarge is displayed in the pop up window.

3. Wipe down the Notification Center of N7 DAP, you can see the N7 DAP has detected the connection and set to File Transfer already

4. For the recrod, you can set the default action of USB connection at Setting > USB > Default USB configuration

5. To illurate the file transfer capability, I copied the Raven by Rebecca Pidgeon (DSF) from my PC to the internal storage of N7 DAP.

6. File transfer completed,, right-mouse click to display the file property of the new folder: 1.8G in N7 internal storage

7. Insert SD card into N7 and repeat the file copying test

1724634029048.png

8. The pop up windows now displayed both Internal Storage and SD card options.

1724634165543.png

9. Repeat the file transfer test, the file property windows stated Samsung SD card as final location.

10. The content of the DSF folder

Last but not least, the USB A to C cable is a very old OTG cable bundled with Cayin DAP few years back. Nothing exotic here,

My preference is to leave the DAP internal storage for the DAP, and use the microSD card for my music, transferring files to the card is so easy, if your laptop doesn't have a reader buy one on Amazon, it's relatively cheap about $20 download files from your source and just do a simple copy to the SD card once inserted into N7 run scan for music files that's all!!!!

First of all, thank you both for your answers.
Thank you for the detailed answer for the operation of the reader that I can't get from @Andykong.
My reader is new so of course that happens to have faults from manufacturing, but I have a solution with the card reader.
After reflection, I don't think I make a after -sales service for that, because it would deprive me of the reader for weeks.
Last night I still made a factory reset, and when he restarts I see that he is eating without stopping and that I have to turn it off manually by pressing the ignition button and the return button of the reader.
It puts him in off and he turns off well, but I made the update of the hiby music application and it redid it to me, forced to extinguish it manually ... it worries me more and more on The aging of the reader ...

As I mentioned at the beginning of my reply, maybe a lot of users "prefer to copy files to SD card via card reader", I honestly believe that is the norm based on my exchanges with users on various shows and events. Readers are faster and cheaper, it will reduce the stress of the USB socket of your DAP by reducing the plugging and unplugging frequencies.

When I manage shows and events, I always make sure all DAPs and desktop digital transports contain the same demo music library (~30GB) so that users can compare our products with the same songs. I always copy this demo music library to the internal storage of all DAPs before I arrive at the show venue, and I also do that to the demo units assigned to me personally, just in case I need to use these DAPs on short notice. I think this is a very good practice if you own several DAPs in your collection.

Sorry for being unable to offer further assistance to solve your problem. This desktop PC is dedicated to office productivity software and web browser usage, I didn't use this PC for audio applications at all, so I haven't installed any USB Audio drivers, I perform Windows updates regularly but all drivers are defaulted M$ device drivers. Maybe that's why I never encounter any problem in connecting DAPs to my PC.

Good evening and thank you for these explanations, I think I follow this advice quite judicial and I will continue to use the card reader.
Because passing the reader for several weeks, for a repair so I can do without. This will be the comfort solution for everyone for the shop, and for me.

Hello everyone. Help me solve one problem. My cayin n7 regularly glitches when playing music both through cayin and hiby music. Glitches are accompanied by freezes, interruptions in audio playback or even abnormal termination of applications. What could be the reason for this? If anything, my card is Samsung 512 and it is quite old.

Copy some music (~30G to cover a larger variety) to the internal storage of N7 and try using that for 1-2 days, if you don't suffer any glitches with that, then there is a good chance that the TF card is causing the problem, you can format the TF card and copy the music back to it, maybe this can solve the problem.

The long-awaited N6iii is coming, if you'll attend the CanJam Socal 2024, make sure you drop by the MusicTeck booth to check out the engineering sample of N6ii with C201 Audio Motherboard.
