apparently about the same size as n8ii, and more pop focus tuning with high resolution and thick density sound, for people who like a warmer pop tuning dap.

Probably not a conversation for this thread but why do people get so upset about DAP's using older versions of Android?

If it had Linux on it (which I doubt) I don't see people getting all wound up if its not running the latest 6.1.12 kernel.

The reason why these DAP's don't run the latest Android isn't because the DAP makers don't want it to, it's because they can't as DAP's don't use the latest Snapdragon processors, which I understand is a requirement for the newest versions of Android.

Don't quote me. I could be wrong, this is a post I found on WeChat.
2.5mm output....highly doubt this info is accurate, unless Cayin are entering a retro phase.

Currently using Android 4.3 on a 2015 Acoustic Research AR-M2. One of the best DAPs I've heard and runs buttery smooth.

So long as you don't stream.

People tend to fetishize the latest OS as somehow being emblematic of "progress," and in the process somehow offering better audio performance.... 2015 begs to disagree.

As far as you don’t stream, Android is not an issue I guess.
In 2023, most of us use streaming.
A new dap released in 2023 must have a recent Android. That’s the point.
I will boycott old Android version (< 11) on DAPs now.
Android 8 will be soon obsolete.
I don’t buy « new » something nearly obsolete.

The reason why these DAP's don't run the latest Android isn't because the DAP makers don't want it to, it's because they can't as DAP's don't use the latest Snapdragon processors, which I understand is a requirement for the newest versions of Android.

They can’t or they don’t want because it’s cheaper ?
I cannot see the reasons on « they can’t ».
