The Xduoo x10t is a DAP without a DAC and that's been around for 4 or 5 years, it doesn't upsample though, but the Sony WM1A and WM1Z DAP's do.

DSC1 is an Open Hardware, "discrete" delta-sigma D/A-converter developped by Signalyst(HQPlayer) able to convert the DSD signal to analog without noise.

PCM signal can be converted to DSD using AK4137 chip(or better option - SRC4192+AK4137, like in this project https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/simple-dsd-src-for-beaglebone.358147 ).

Or Cayin can use their own upsample/conversion FPGA.

Yellow kapton tape at the top, I've never seen that on a DAP from any other manufacturer, perhaps that's it. I'm not sure what purpose it serves though, darker background to the music perhaps?

We apply these tapes to the DAP temporarily, they can minimize scratches and bumps in the production line. We'll remove the tape after the final QA check, Maybe that's why you won't see that on a DAP.

Looks like the N7 is shaping up to be another very interesting Cayin release. The last time I was very excited about one of their releases, I ended up buying it (C9), so I am bracing for another impact (on my wallet).

I won't try and speculate what's so unique here, but I have a very simple wishlisht for the N7:

- System-wide, native PEQ support
- A "player only" mode where I can just ignore all the Android nonsense and enjoy my offline collection, with a much lower battery drain of course.
- An OLED display. Love them OLED blacks.
- Dual card slot.

None of these are groundbreaking, but I do not know of a DAP that has all these together. Would buy one in a heartbeat if these are present.

Anyway, looking forward to the 23rd.
