My card is pretty full so I need to delete all of the alternate takes of tracks and to do that I need to hear which one sounds better before choosing one to delete. I can't really do that on my PC.
Not sure why you would post if you couldn't offer me a solution? Why bother?
Apologies for wasting yours and my time, I just thought you had no replies and this is an almost dead thread with the N6ii being last years news. I won't bother next time.
And look my reply generated another reply, you're welcome.

In the very beginning, I used to participate in many discussions that were outside my scope as a brand rep.. In some of these discussions, I obviously couldn't solve the problem but I tried my best to keep the discussion ongoing. In many cases, we either drew the attention of someone who could solve the problem or collected more information that was not obvious or not mentioned in the original post. I considered these helpful and continued to do that for years.
I seldom do these now and the reason is obvious.
@MarkParity this is your home community, you should stay, at least until we come out with N6iii I don't know when.
I'm a newbie to the Cayin N6ii section of Head-Fi but i've had this player with the E02 board since new 3yrs ago.
Great little player, does exactly what i want and sounds very good. I rarely use it mobile, most of the time its part of my home hifi setup as a media player, i don't stream ever, my Preffered use is as a flac and wave file player.
Recently i've been coming across dsf files. I haven't downloaded any but i'd like to. Is this DAP capable of playing dsf files using the Hiby player app, its what i always use.
This has been asked before but I can't seem to fix it.
I use Apple Music and I get the "unrooted" issue (as of 4.7). I tried Magisk but for whatever reason I can't use it fully. Is there an easy step-by-step somewhere?
Since the N6ii is now discontinued, will it still get updates to Android? If not, will N6ii owners have problems updating Spotify versions as well? For example, my old iMac now cannot update to the latest Mac OS so I cannot update to the latest Spotify player. Will N6ii and N6ii Ti owners experience this problem soon?

N6ii runs Android 8.1. Check support for the 3rd party app you require. Eventually, yes, you won’t be able to update streaming apps as they’ll EOL 8.1 support.
But you don’t have to stay current. I run UAPP 5.9.9.0 and have for over 1.5 years and have never upgraded and don’t plan to unless my qobuz streams stop working. And if n6ii lasts beyond all 3rd party app stream support, you can use as a local player.

Thanks for your reply. I just wondered what benefits I would be missing out on if not using the most up-to-date version of Spotify (and I also have Qobuz too).
I have a new question that I will also post on the Hiby RS6 thread because I want to get a balance of responses.
Question: I am considering getting a back-up DAP that is R2R and relatively affordable for travel and greater portability so I am looking at the Cayin N6ii Ti and the Hiby RS6 (open to other options that fit my criteria). What are the pros and cons of these two and which would you recommend if I can get them for about the same price?

I like the N6ii size. The Ti version is a bit heavy (due to Titanium) but is totally manageable and the DAP I take on longer trips,
I have not heard the RS6 and can't say which one is better other than offer a general consensus amongst those that have from past reactions. RS6 was touted as a bit dark (murky maybe) or much warmer in tonality than the Ti (R01). Most preferred the R01 N6ii as a stand out in its price class. BUT the N6ii is a little bright with good punch. It always comes down to your IEM's and how they react to the DAP's though. It would be best if you could hear them but I know that's usually not possible.
I guess generally, If you want your current sound to be warmer and possibly a little softer, the RS6.
If your IEM's can take a little more treble and net you more resolution, the N6ii Ti. N6ii has module swapping too so you can own effectively multiple daps for a couple hundred dollars more. But R01 was the best imo.

By the sound of what you said, my Monarch II world probably pair well with the N6 Ti while my Mest HK version would pair better with the RS6. So I think I can make either of these DAPs work.
BTW, I still have my N6ii with the original dac module so if anything ever goes wrong with the Ti main body, I supposed I can always swap with my N6ii main body? Would it sound exactly the same?

Pretty sure, yes.
I am not sold on body material in digital components having anything to do with sound reproduction capabilities. But then again, if you move from a brightly lit room to a darker room your sound impressions change. Such is the brain (shrug) So if you look at it, yes. If you don't see the changed case color, no.
