So far I can only say that I am in love with the R01.. The match with the Focal Clear MG is fantastic.. So much that my Denon AH-D9200 will have to wait a while before I dive into that pairing..

But at the same time this also means that I decided to also start looking both an A02 and an E02 board to complement the R01. Anyone wants to sell theirs? By all means PM me :)
Yes E02 to complement with it

For those who want to add wireless charging to their Cayin N6ii, these can be found on Aliexpress and work like a charm. They do not fit inside every case though so YMMV...

Now the N6IIti it’s above the N8 BAL?

The N8 Balanced it’s more warm a bit more dynamic but sounds diffuse against the Ti…
The N6IIti sounds more natural, clear, almost equally dynamic, with similar soundstage and better instrument separation…the bass and the vocals are stellar and beautifully represented…

it’s better than the N8 balanced, at least with the Anole V14, i’ve never feel such a change after the burn in…it’s amazing…😮

to all the R01 users, keep your Motherboard at least untill the burn in is finished…👍

I tried the n6ii when it first came out with I think a t01 and was extremely disappointed with it. It was no where near the n8, and I could easily justify the $ difference.

After reading all the reviews on the r01, I decided to give it a second shot. I am now 24hrs into the player with the r01 using the EE EVO's between my N8 BB and the N6ii w/r01. So far, I would have to disagree that the N6ii w/r01 is better than the N8 unbalanced. BUT I will say that it is at least 80% of the way there! The N8 unbalanced with the tube is so much more organic and balanced.

The R01 needs at least 100 burn in hours to shine, mine has good 200 hours and shines at his best…in the first hours feels somewhat bright and disjointed.
But yeah, the sound it’s more warm and organic with tubes, N8 it’s still a more versatile player

Downside for my use case is that I want all my music needs to be catered by one device. Local library, my Tidal and Qobuz memberships, casting to external devices, bluetooth while traveling, USB and HDMI l2s source to my desktop amp etc.. The N6ii in that sense can cover all...I don't see the N8 accomplish all of that

Just out of interest (and as I could not immediately find that information online) what type of glass are the screen and backside of the N6ii made of?

The pro’s I see to the n6ii, and why I may still consider it is the reduction in weight and size, much better battery life, and faster boot time.

Anybody else having problem to update the HibyMusic app on N6ii? https://www.facebook.com/CayinAudio/photos/a.299322053812361/1183358945408663/
I am using a n6ii-Ti. My HibyMusic app version is still at 1.6.0 and when I press the Update Check, there is no reaction.
@CayinSupport do we have a solution for this yet? How do we update the Hiby app under N6ii or is this not possible at all?
Found a link to version 1.6.7 via https://www.iidapiano.store/hibyinfo

Direct link to the apk:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/11FMwkFSGzVesJNxazJxHdKYxiWAkKvdq/view?usp=sharing

Note: To do Tidal MQA you seem to need a paid subscription however. I guess that would probably make me stay with UAPP personally..

Sorry for the late response. We have forward the problem to HiBy immediately after @kel77 raised our attention, and our Engineers had followed up with HiBy team several times. In the very beginning, they can't trace the problem because their DAPs can detect update as soon as they start up HiBy Music App on N6ii. We finally identified the problem this morning. For some unknow reasons, HiBy's OTA server cannot recognise APP update request when the DAP was set to some languages (include English, unfortunately). HiBy will update their OTA upgrade platform immediately, and Cayin will create a new download page to host the HiBy v1.6.7 APK for manual upgrade.

Theoretically, you set your N6ii system language to Chinese (there are several Chinese options, but anyone should work), reboot your N6ii and start up HiBy Music App, you should receive the upgrade notice immediately. Fortunately, the upgrade messages are in English, so even when you set the language to Chinese, you should still be able to follow the instructions, and then switch back to your home language after the upgrade completed.

I'll have to investigate the other boards - it would seem rude not to! Is there a consensus or general view on another top performing board?
Alex @twister6 , did a thorough review of all the boards, which board did you order with your unit?

You can also check out the R01 review from Headfonia and Headfonics, they have also reviewed all five N6ii Audio Motherboards.

You can check out @Currawong's N6ii and Audio Motherboards review here , here and here.

I know people like the E02 with the Z1R, but what about the R01 with Z1R?

I've also been meaning to get a custom elysian acoustics Annihilator, but according to the manufacturer, he felt that the N8 would be a better pairing with it due to the power difference over the n6ii R01

Any thoughts?
In my experience the R01 is a great match for relatively neutral iems with relatively neutral note weight.. on the other hand, for iems with very specific characters like the Z1R, the E02 is a better match.. then there is the E01 in class A mode, which is excellent for super sensitive iems like the VE8.. finally, the A01 is just an overall very pleasant board for casual and easy listening, where you just enjoy the music and forget all the critical aspects.. 😊

I assume you are referring to IER-Z1R. I have tried this IEM in Hong Kong and I agree with @bukumurah that E02 is the better choice among N6ii Audio Motherboards.

The 4.4mm phone output of E02 is actually in par with the regular balanced phone output from N8, but once you engaged the P+ mode (High Impedance High Output Mode), the N8 will increase its output significantly, and the P+ mode is particularly important for high impedance earphones/headphones.
