Np, I just hope someone posts some impressions for E01 AB vs E02!

Regards,
Vishy

Guess you are deciding between e01 and e02, I think it depends on your headphone/iem.

If it’s hard to drive, get e02. Other wise just get or stick with e01.

To my ears, e01 sounds more elegant and better layered than e02. Transparency wise e01 is better as well.

But again those differences is not that big even compared to t01.

In case anyone is interested, I go my Cayin N6ii working with my new Topping D90 DAC over I2S (IIS). I had to adjust a couple of the I2S settings on the D90 in order for the N6ii I2S interface to match up the IIS-LVDS interface on the D90.

This is the audio chain for my bedside system now:

And here's the N6ii at the top of the chain:

I think this is about the purest sound I can get out of the Cayin N6ii as it's just a digital transport in this configuration.

Cayin N6ii is best and cheapest mediaplayer with I2S nowadays :)
And the best thing, it can be used as a dap))))

@CayinSupport @Andykong Do you guys a pinout diagram for the I2S interface on the Cayin N6ii please? I've got it working with my external DAC but I want to check that I've configured it 100% correctly to match the N6ii.

Here we go:

That looks like a picture of what happens when one has too many toys and too much time.

My latest N6ii use is just Utopia single ended (Lqicables) from E01 A/B mode. Just really sweet.

E02 is waving to you, I am really interested to find out whether E02 is a good choice for Utopia. :o2smile:

Here we go:

N6ii I2S Pin Definition.jpg

Hi @Andykong, thanks for this. Comparing this to my DAC's HDMI port pinouts, there is almost no pin in common! Is this diagram correct for the Cayin N6ii?

Here is my DACs pinout options on the IIS-LVDS HDMI port:

As you can see, even the pin numbering does not match! Mysteriously, everything is working perfectly, but I would be grateful if you could double-check the I2S port pinout for the Cayin N6ii for me.

For example, Pin 1 on the N6ii is GND, yet Pin 1 on the Topping D90 is always a Data pin. Maybe I'm reading the diagrams wrong!

Please be reminded that the pin out of N6ii I2S is mini-HDMI connector, not standard HDMI connector.

I would have one if someone in the states were selling them yet. :L3000:

That means pretty soon, I am sure a lot of N6ii users (and potential users) are looking forward to your E01 vs E02 with Utopia.

I can imagine A01 and E01 (Class A) being good matches for Utopia tonality. I always found it a bit too bright and too thin in its note body. I'm interested to hear your impressions, too.

I'm more of a HiFiMAN sound guy.

If only DHL would pick up some packages and get them on a plane to me... I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it.

With some sources I found that too, to some degree. But with the N6ii/E01 on A/B mode there seemed to be a more full and enjoyable signature. Please note, I never use EQ with any device or H/P. But I do use high gain and somewhat high volume settings. ymmv
