Yeah, I'm thinking most of my headphones have plenty of bass response so I'll be fine as long as the bass response isn't overly thin, which it sounds like it isn't. What I'll be hoping for is something as transparent, dynamic and neutral as my desktop grace.

Have you slipped on the included silicon (TPU?) case @PinkyPowers? It's pretty nice, has good grippy texture, and lets the appealing aesthetics to peek through a bit.

I'm really liking this DAP so far. Good total package as far as being a DAP. To be transparent, I haven't tried third-party apps yet. That'll be this weekend's homework...

Ahh... I prefer a more natural type of leather, not the croc-imprint. I'm hoping Dignis comes out with a case for X5ii!

Dignis is unlikely, because they seldom develop case for rectangular and symmetric DAP.

Very interesting DAP! I love the i5, and would've nearly bought that if I didn't come across this thread. But Andy, do tell us, any plans to release a Cayin i5ii? :p maybe with 4.4mm balanced even? hehe.

Also, I must say, the specs look very promising! I might get one for myself someday soon, but I gotta hear it first :)

He can for sure.

I honestly find cayin i5 case to far exceed any of the other two cases. He uses legit italian leather calfskin or sheepskin. You can customize too.

He's in ukraine and can ship internationally, but makes best leather cases for daps I've ever felt.

It should be easy to request a custom order, he might need someone to donate Cayin N5ii to him temporarily though.

Well, show us some photo to illustrate why you like the silicon case. I am saying this because it is different from our previous silicon case significantly, so others might be confused by the description. :beerchug:

N5ii has decent bass resolution, it is on the lean side when compare to N5 or i5, but it is definitely not thin IMHO.

Transparent, dynamic and neutral are almost always welcomed in desktop setup, assuming you are using over-the-ear headphones at the same time. However, I don't think the exact criteria will apply on DAP because you are using IEMs with it and IEMs get be fatigue when the overall system is highly transparent and neutral. In many cases, a slightly warm-tilt sound signature will allow you to listen to your setup for longer hours

Just in case someone is unaware of the Dignis case for previous version of N5, this is the link for the product (in English)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018XBGFZ6/

The ETSY is brilliant from functional point of view, it is designed by someone who care about protecting the DAP but without getting in the way of regular use. However, when compare to the Dignis case, it lacks in terms of elegant and sleekness. Somehow 3D shaped case draws more attention and Dignis knows how to preserve the "highlight" of a design.

If someone is ordering ETSY case for N5ii and need supports, drop me a PM and see if we can work out. Maybe I can send them a set of our metal chassis (with the screen and the circuitry), hopefully they can use that to get their measurement correctly and test fit when needed.

The way you're describing it sounds great. Neutral with a slight warm tilt is exactly what I want. It's partly what drove me to the N3. If this is just a refined version of that? PERFECT. Looking forward to the final details about price and release date!

The N3 is a bit warmer than this.

My "personal" warm sounding meter for Cayin DAP is as follows:

N5 > i5=N3 > N5ii > N6

> is warmer

Interesting. I don't remember the N5 1st Gen sounding that warm. But then, it has been quite a long time since last I heard it. Pinky was lucky enough to get in on that tour back in the day.

I do very much agree with i5=N3, and both being a good bit warmer than the N5II. Never heard the N6, though. :D
