My friend, you participation are sincerely appreciated, that's why I take your comment seriously.

Unfortunately, we don't have a schedule for next generation of N6 till now, so that probably will be a very long wait if we haven't start this project at all, but I guess you can enjoy your music while you wait, so that's not too bad.

@Andykong I hope that cayin N5 will have another firmware update.
The feature I really want is to change tracks while the screen is locked.
Also the low and high gain switch, it can be convenience to use it, but some time double click the menu button and the gain change from low to high may cause my ears bleed, so how about the option of changing the order of menu items.

N5 can change track while the screen is locked. This is a native blind control feature available since product launch. It is written in the Quick User Guide that come with the N5 package:

When the device is in lock-screen mode, selected buttons can offer quick operation as followings.
Volume (+): Increase volume when pressed, skip to Previous track when hold.
Volume (-): Decrease volume when pressed, skip to Next track when hold.
Menu Button: Click to pause or resume playback.

Thank you! I didn't notice this when I read the manual. It's more convenience for me to use now.

Is it worth to buy Cayin N5 now that Cayin N5 II comming out, i recently got Cayin i5?
and i never was able to get Cayin N5 i like it, I dont quite like N3.
Only thing is not easy to get N5 now, i can get cayin n5 for 380 euro shipping included.
should i get it later this year, maybe N5 II i will like but N5 had something special to it.

I hope cayin could keep N5 production even if N5 II is released is still a good player.

bluedolphin

As option, you can always take second handed, it would be much cheaper.
Or wait Black Friday or 1111 - 11th of November, then it could cost about $250.
At least last year N5 with official discount was about 250 usd at China during "bachelor day" sale.

N5 has been discontinued. We made a public announcement on 2017-06-19 but that was in Chinese, I didn't translate the article to English in view of the slow response to N5 in HeadFi forum.

Where are you located? If you are in US, I can check with my rep. to see if they still get hold of our ex-show demo unit. Those are units that we used on events such as CanJam, so they are open-boxed and probably on displayed for a few days.

I want to warn you in advance that N5 2.5mm balanced output is known to be noisy, you can definitely hear the hissing with sensitive IEMs, not so much a problem if you are using high impedance (32ohm or above) dynamic IEMs or headphones, or DIY an impedance adapter for the 2.5mm output.

It's about €223 here in Thailand - is that a good deal then?

How bad really is this hissing noise?
