Cayin N5 DAP - Product Info (Post #2), Resources (Post #3) and Discussion

Hi Andy.
Is there anyway to have the custom equalizer when I switch on the dap? It always goes back to eq off and honestly it's getting me on the nerves... Everything else is great!
Thanks.

That sure sound inconvenient.

I'll take off to Munich Hi End Show on Monday (and this is Sunday 1am at Hong Kong right now), I probably didn't have time to check out what is the current (and previous) arrangement on EQ, but I can do this after the Munich trip and will add this to the future firmware requirement list after i verified the problem.

When a company go out their way to create something special and unique it should be recognised.

You're welcome, it was a very fun product to write about. :)

I cant remember but did anyone mention of a newest firmware bug where when charging led blinks but keeps blinking even after its finished charging.

Also since update, every time I plug into pc it now tells me to scan and fix drives.

Neither are big issues but are minor annoyances. Player is phenomenal. Wife and I are super pleased with it. :)

You are not alone on these but like you said they are minor and didn't bother me as well.

Pretty much mirror my view of the N5.

Yesterday, I went to audition the Opus #1 (again), too dark and mellow, could be the higher output impedance. Tried the Luxury and Precision L3 as well, this one is a sad story. Built is iffy, UI is bad, and the player rebooted itself a couple of times... Sound is OK though.

At the end of the day, I am really lucky to score soundwise, built wise and usability wise with the N5.

With good folks like Andy, who is really strong technically with the products and with his commitment to rectify issues (no matter how small) is icing on the cake. Good stuff from Cayin all round!

Excellent pairing for Cayin N5, the new ($50) Dynamic driver based Shozy Zero IEM.

Shozy seems really serious about bringing something to the masses without that renowned crippling high price tag.

Anyone interested can check out the thread here.

The guys are going nuts over them.

Barely have time to check out my new toy in past few days, there were 999 items that I need to finish before the Munich Hi-end show.

On the short moments I have with the Shozy Zero, I am amazing by its transparent, beat a lot of IEM at double or triple its price in this domain. On the other hand, If there is a wish list for this IEM, I would say density is something that I want to see some improvements down the road.

But hey, at that price, lets be fair, it is a very good deal already, I really should look at the price tag and be realistic when I ask for more. :beerchug:

You mean like a fuller, thicker sound?

not necessary thicker but certainly wanted to have more body. When I said the density is not as strong, I mean the sound is a bit over-spacious (sparse ??), loose and not so focused, you can hear everything but you are not drawn into the music.

I understand completely. My JH Audio Angie has a nice dense, strong body. And my new Rhapsodio Solars are even fuller-bodied. :D
