Thanks Brooko! The more I read, the more I'm leaning towards the Fiio, given that it's not as, dated and a somewhat similar sound signature to the Cayin. I don't use headphones so the better power output from Cayin wouldn't benefit me as much.

I see, this escaped my mind completely because the SRP of i5 is actually higher then N5ii, and the retail price of X5ii and N5ii should be very close to each other.
Cayin i5 HEAVY DISTORTION when BASS is high on the EQ
I have purchased a Cayin i5, now ive had it for a week now, used it for a few hours, do i have to burn in to get better sound?
My issue is when i increase the bass via the EQ (last 2 on the left) on the i5 I get heavy distortion.
I read the reviews before purchase and it stated that the device has strong booming bass
The mids and highs are nice and the sound stage is wide, however the bass is very disappointing, if I increase it more than 30% then the distortion kicks in and its horrible, i wanted to email Cayin support but its in chinese, support
Im using 80ohm fostex tr90s HD650 and beyers Amirons
they are all high impedance cans but something like the Cayin should not distort on increased bass
Im thinking to buy low impedance headphones now, ive already purchased the C5 amp and had to use the bass on the amp, but I shouldnt need a amp on the i5
Is it faulty?
What do I do to get nicer sound in the lows dept, my cheap sony A35 has better bass, my ibasso DX80 does not distort on full bass, what am i to do to correct the problem?
Cayin will debut the N8 at Munich High End 2018 , if you are interested to find out more about the flagship Digital Audio Player from Cayin, check out the link below and I'll keep you informed.
The Yarland FV-34C-V looks beautiful. I believe this is a speaker amplifier by design, Wander if the headphone output are transformer coupled or not? Did you use this setup to drive your speakers as well?
The line out of i5 is a "real" line out bypassing the headphone amps components completely, so it is clean and serve its purpose well for personal audio application, It might sound a big dull for speaker setup as the output from i5 is a bit low when compare to desktop DAC.
Very interesting, and I find N6 in your library, it is such a joy to compare N6 vs i5 in such level of technical detail. Thank you very much for your contribution, this is a big hidden treasure to Personal Audio community.
