Again, I've just read this stuff and haven't owned the table personally, and it looks like the newest models may have been fixed... but something to be aware of.

It seems like the more recent tables have been improved quite a bit. That was another concern I had with the P6. I usually hate being an early adopter for obvious reasons.

I went with a Nottingham Spacedeck with the Space Ace tone arm for my vinyl rig, works wonders with the Cavalli LF and LCD-2.2s with a seperate phono stage of course.  Relistening to a lot of my older vinyl, and am quite surprised how good they sound after a good LP cleaning, with  Ortofon Kontrapunkt a MC cartridge.  Completes my HF system with the PS Audio Perfect Wave combo.  I use both sources in my main speaker rig also.

It looks different and has an interesting operation, you spin the platter by hand to start it and to stop it put pressure on two rubber rings on the side of the platter.  It works better then it reads, and sounds incredible.

My local 'advisor' recommended Nottingham but those things seem hard to get a hold of...is there a price list anywhere? I'm still really interested in their tables.

Edit: Holy crap phone typos.

I just got the HDTracks Every Picture Tells a Story by Rod Stewart 24/192 version (I couldn't resist!?).  Compared it to the MFSL Gold Disc and JPN SHM disc.  The SHM seems a bit tweaked up but good.  The drum break during "I know I'm losing you" just rock with the Liquid Fire!!!  Really like you're there sort of deal.

I searched Audiogon, and found one.

Right now there is a  Nottingham Spacedeck with Space Arm on Audiogon from a dealer in Fla.

I cannot get the link to post since the new "upgraded" Agon website, but if you go to their homepage

http://www.audiogon.com

and search for "Nottingham" it will come up along with a Dias, which is about twice the cost.

I am very pleased with mine.

I contacted my local guy and he's putting together a price list for me. I'm very interested. It's a shame they don't make phonostages, too.

Don't mean to drag this thread anymore OT than it already is, but if anybody has some literature/resources on the basics of setting up a vinyl system, I'd be much obliged.  I'm ashamed to admit I really don't know much anything about spinning LPs.

Hey,

I might soon join the LF familly, I was wondering what was the general consensus on the stock tubes, shall I upgrade immediately and if so what's the popular choice around here?

Cheers

I'd give the stock JJs a shot first. Alex talked about rolling a little at the Austin meet and while he admitted the sound can change with tube rolling it won't be major differences simply because of the way the amp is designed.

I need to do more rolling myseld but I'm in no hurry as the JJs sound great.

Ditto.
I have no plans of tube rolling until the stock tubes are in need of a change.

I rolled in some Nationals (I believe) because they were supposed to have better bass -- went back to the stock JJ's.
