Cascade Headphone by Campfire Audio

Pretty fair? I'd say at least pretty biased as you said it yourself how he judges headphones and cast the ones he personally doesn't like out as pariahs. We all have biases and that's ok but most of the YouTube reviewers I'd come across seem pretty biased and or out for the affiliate link or pushing people to certain sites to buy from. Far as to that Z guy, I agree it seems like pure entertainment if that's what you're into.

Looks like they only have the stock leather and cloth pads atm. I find the cloth a good option to open up the stage slightly, and produce a bit more of a relaxed sound that I can use for a bit longer than the leather.
I've seen this guy's review videos, I'm sure he works hard at his reviews but I've never agreed with his take on gear, I've probably agreed more with that Zreviews guy than this person (don't know his real name.) I have the Cascade and it's defiantly an acquired taste but I still find it as one of my strongest for certain genres, even headphones I have 2-3x's the cost. Most of the YouTube reviewers these days seem to be more about the affiliate links than honest reviews, say like the legendary Tyll Hertsens. I also do like Currawong and Rockwell, might have the names wrong but seem to be honest and open with their reviews.
Thing is about any reviewer is you’ve got to read or watch a bit of their work to understand where any of their preferences lie, and hopefully find some piece of gear they mention or some tracks they use that you know well yourself to use as a yardstick. I’ve got no problem with Resolve at all, I’ve found several of his videos quite informative. Zeos, for all of his antics, is actually quite good when you strip all of that away, and I think he does a good job at making audio more accessible to the ‘everyman’ kind of hobbyist. What I like about @Currawong is how well he uses other gear by comparison to the review subject, as well as making references to specific passages in various tracks he’s used for a review. His PSA’s around healthy listening habits are also worth remembering, and the Aussie accent is comforting to me. 😉

Even now with owning other high end headphones they're the ones I'm keeping if I can only have 1 pair of circumaural headphones.
The Cascades are definitely one of my endgame headphones but they're not the perfect headphone for everyone
The Cascade is very much a specialist in my collection at this point, but as it does so very well with Rap, Hip-Hop, EDM, Electronic, and darker indie/alternative rock, I absolutely love it. Performs great with a lot of those poorly recorded/mastered albums from the 80s, early 90s, which is quite a nostalgic period for me.

Not sure I could make it my ‘one and only’, but it’s defo a keeper in my collection.

Yeah, I get that can be annoying, and more intrusive are Google/YouTube adverts, but no one has to click on any of those links, and these folks are just trying to earn a crust at this.
One thing that can’t be denied is the genuine passion almost every reviewer I’ve seen or read has for the hobby.
I’d rather have these adverts to ignore as a trade off for of a variety of opinions on which to base $X000’s purchasing decisions.

Someone using these with Cloth Pads and SCX-8 Cable? Which Filter do you guys prefer with SXC-8 and maybe with Cloth Pads 1T/4T or none?

I found that cloth makes them less bassy, losing their magic... However filters were pushing the bass up, but it was more the middle bass that the sub-bass, and I was not liking it... I really think that they shine on the original configuration of pads and filters, but having the option to tune them is something really great.

I made the experience theyre more neutral with Cloth Pads, less dark and bassy. With Cloth Pads the Mids and Highs are coming more through. But they still retain bassy in their sound signature. Cloth Pads + SXC-8 + 1T Filter is currently my favorite Combo.

Currently own both the Dorado2020 and Vega2020. Really love the Vega and will probably sell the Dorado.

Curious if the Cascade can bring some of the Vega thick sub bass magic? Or are they closer to the punch and slam of the Dorado?

I had a Cascade for a time with no inserts and the Velour Pads, and it was quite punchy with good extension, but I wouldn't say it had "thick sub bass magic"

The Cascades are with the stock leather pads definitive like the Vega 2020. They have like the Vega 2020 a focus on the Bass Region.

For me, it was disappointment at first sight, even for classic rock I found a tad too bassy. I love their design, built and despite being a bit rigid quite comfortable as a whole.
Switch to a pure OCC silver cable. It tames the bass and opens up the soundstage and details.
