Campfire - Solaris

I had the white andros, babied them both the same. They're both sturdy.

I never had any chipping with the andros. Not sure if that's because of the cerakote or because I babied them or both. I see more wear on pics of the green andros.

Thay being said, neither the gold nor the dark part of the Solaris look like they would chip. Time will tell.

There was definitely a change in coating material/anodising process that makes all of the newer shells way more durable. I don't think the Solaris will chip. I'd personally be more concerned about the glue connecting the nozzle to the shell coming undone as that's happened to me twice (once with Andromeda, once with Lyra 2). I can't say why it happens but my hypotheses is that the glue doesn't like the Australian heat and my sweat.

The original V1 Campfire Audio shells all had a shiny anodised coating that would literally rub off over time. The newer shells use a more matte almost sandblasted finish that's hella more durable. Speaking as a person who owned both versions of the Andromeda as well as the original Orion and Lyra 2.

Just got my Solaris yesterday. Now doing the burn-ins.
From just a couple hours of listening... they sounds very promising. It’s an all rounder that kinda excels in every aspects.
What kind of magic did Ken cast on it to make it sound so spacious when the voice is so close... I have no idea.

It sound like someone crack up the knob on “Stage Height” up to 11.

Ditto on the shell separation. That’s what my Vegas are in to have fixed.

Hey guys has anyone heard fitear togo 334, and can anyone compare the solaris with them as hearing the fitear togo 334 has a very natural real-life sound to it as well
The 334 is a vocal specialist, the vocal is indeed sound excellent and has sweet unique tonality to them that you won't find anywhere else. Otherwise, I won't call them very natural sounding as the sound is pretty colored and has darker tonality than the Solaris. Soundstage is quite wide but not as wide as the Solaris and height is much less. Extension on both end is kinda just okay for the price they going at (You can find it way cheaper in Japan, though). Bass is fun sounding but imo it's pretty bad compare to most iems out there in the same price range. I did paired the 334 with Fitear 000 cable which make the vocal sounds even more stellar but otherwise it's not on the same league as Solaris which has quite noticably better clarity and resolution in all frequency. The 335DW might be a better comparison to the Solaris.

So I just tried the Solaris again. This time against Andro S and CL2 (finally!).

Solaris still top in term of sound. Everything sound huge and defined. Also noticed it’s very very easy to drive when compared against CL2. Fit and comfort however is still an issue.

For CL2, I will make it short. The negative comment on mid bordering harsh, I can understand. I feel like I’m expecting my eardrum pierced any moment especially with female voices although it didn’t happen. The cable, get a replacement if you bought this.

Andro S is the most surprising one. When I tried the Andro OG last week, it sound the most disappointing of the bunch. Maybe that’s faulty unit? This SS sound very balanced to my ear with good stage to boot. Fit seem also better (??) compared to OG as I don’t feel the sharp edges.

I love female vocals more than anything else on the CL2. That and string instruments.
How long have you had the CL2, burn in is very real with these?
And what tips are you using?
These require deep insertion or they sound unbalanced.
Would like to hear your thoughts.

Add: and agree, the cables are trash, aftermarket cables are a requirement.

Not enough pictures. I think you should at least have 100-200 pictures per section.
it is true and kind of funny how many photos i put in. Lots.

I like taking them. And sift through quite a few to find ones I like.

Photos bypass the need to read the review for those with literacy difficulties or for those whose first language is not English

Also one may venture to say that this so call hobby tuned major industry is populated by men who are largely visual - hence also the popularity of youtube reviews and also photography.

The world needs more readers.

Final tip, smallest size, as I read over at CL2 thread that deep fit required. So I crammed it deep and oh boi my ear still hurt right now. Removing them cause popping sound so it’s definely deep enough. I won’t go so deep for normal usage.

How long burn in? Fresh from box. Yes, it will matured and mellow down but I don’t think the bite will dissappear. The FR curve peak will not change much. My theory on why some ppl can tolerate this is down to ear sensitivity and tolerance level. Mine nope.

Another possibility, not sufficient power to drive straight from iPhone with dongle. I need to crank up to 70-80% to make it listenable at my usual listening volume. For Solaris, I could get same sound level at 15-20% volume.

The shell has surprising heft to it considering the dinky size and ceramic material. Definitely durable. Ideal world, Solaris innards in CL2 shell!

Glued?! I would've thought the two parts are screwed together or something. Do you guys have some pictures, I'm very curious to see what the joining looks like.

Two parts of the shell is screwed together (or at least look like it due to screws around the shell). The connectors is in between these two half shell. Not sure if it’s glued.

Someone free to do a tear down of Solaris?
