Campfire Audio - Introducing 2 new models Hello Andromeda and Nova

What happens if the Asian distributor only manages to sell 50-80% of their order ?

For a special order I would imagine the distributor will have to wait until they sell everything regardless of how long it takes.

But you can get any color Audi you want here is the US! Ha. But what grinds my gears is how CA is able to for less include the balanced extra cable to others and not us? Lame again. Logic would dictate the masses should be getting the deal not the small limited run people.
Well, 500 units seems like a pretty big order to me!

Maybe you can contact the Asian distributor and snag one?

1) Let's be realistic... There is the "internet" and anything can be had if you really want it.

2) Clemmaster is right, that there is also a cost for managing multiple SKUs, coming from a company that is focused on repeatable configs and common BOM's.

3) I'm also willing to bet that ECT committed to the orders or there is enough margin in their partnership to warrant a risk from CA.

Having visited HK in the last few months, ECT is pretty damn big and is responsible for A&K, JH, CA, and many more in the HK region at a minimum. Any company in the US could do the same, amazon or B&H for example? Question is whether or not it's worth it to them... Massdrop has done custom AKG headphones before.

Btw, can we please get back on topic about the earphones vs a philosophical debate about the companies business practice?

Here's a start...

Copy and paste from ECT's site...

"the double coated Cerakote™ shell brings more subtlety and finesse to the sound. Along with the extra 2.5mm termination Litz Cable"

I haven't heard the default andromeda, so I don't have a point of reference. I did get a chance to compare the Vega vs Andromeda Snow White for a little bit. Will post more details as I compare the two more.

Indeed. I was thinking about customs before I purchased the andromeda. I no longer think about getting customs unless an andromeda ciem comes out.
I like that I can put on the spinfits and get the mid/treble balance I like or add a resistor and tailor the bass to reference but still have more of it when it's needed in a louder environment. I did find the Andro moved a lot on breakin. May be cable related but just a warning to new purchasers to give them some time before coming to conclusions.

The 500 units are on sale in an Audio Fair in Hong Kong at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. I guess if they did not sell all 500 units, they may simply save it for another event or distribute them to local stores. Also noted that ETC is the official distributor for campfire products for Hong Kong AND China. I don't think they are worried about lacking population to soaking up their special edition products.

Sold the original ALO litz 3.5mm cable and bought the ALO litz 2.5mm balanced cable for the Andromeda / SE846 to play on my DP-S1. Let's see what happens on the balanced output....

Initial impression
cable installed and compared on the Campfire Andromeda
8core OCC silver + OCC bronze 3.5mm
ALO Litz 2.5mm

Using the 8 core OCC silver + OCC bronze 3.5mm. The low end is stronger. Drums and bass more present.

ALO Litz: Since the low end is less present compared to the previous, there is more clarity on the mids and highs

The HK distributor, ECT, paid upfront for the 500 pcs, it was a special commission order. This is the standard practice in Asia and one of the reasons that there are so many "LTD Ed." in Asia by Noble, CFA, Empire Ears, JHA etc etc.

If ppl want a special shade of your favourite IEM, get 500 HF members who are willing to pay upfront (non refundable) and then approach CFA or any of your favourite manufacturers

And then you might want to give your organization a fancy name. Maybe containing words like "drop" and "mass". Something like "massdrop" might make a great name :D
