Campfire Audio - Introducing 2 new models Hello Andromeda and Nova

Definitely is the problem of andromeda. Pitch black background when I paired my flc8s with the same source. The andromeda is just too sensitive, so you need to add IEMatch for a clean background. ZX2 is the only source I've heard of that does not create hiss with andromeda.

I read a comment from one guy, who mentioned the iematch closes up the sound stage by quite a bit, as well as reduces dynamics - any truth in this? I wound't have though that it would have made much difference.

Hmm...no idea. Haven't tried it myself, so I can't personally confirm. I don't plan on going IEMatch until I go balanced anyway because the hiss is not that bad IMO. YMMV.

That is good news, but would limit my choices going forward.
Anyone has experienced Andromeda with a high end AK or the Mojo?

If it limits too much my choices of sources going forward, I might need to look elsewhere.

I would not recommend mojo as a portable source because of its bad usb implementation and rather recommend grabbing a used gov2+ for a decent price if you can. Mojo is very sensitive to RFI and if you're planning to use it with a phone or a laptop while tethering, you might experience static pops.  The gov2+ does hiss a little, but it also does really well with andromeda w/ spinfit tips or spiral dot tips. You also have to option of going balanced later on. I can't tell you how mojo sounds with the andromeda unfortunately...but I imagine it will sound pretty bassy and possibly dark due to its very low impedance output. Andromeda is sensitive to impedance output changes in case you didn't know and mojo probably isn't the safest route just because of that.

My iFi Micro Black Label will arrive tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes in terms of signature and hiss (shouldn't have any).
I think the Mojo is overrated, but still haven't heard what the iFi can (or can't) do.

The Andromeda seemed ok to me with the ifi.
It has many switches to adjust power etc

Nice. Hope it will arrive tomorrow. I've been.. let's say, unlucky in my recent online headphone purchases, so hopefully no bad experiences this time.

I got the Comply TX-400 tips yesterday and I don't know why CA stopped including them with the Andromeda, but they're quite nice. Very comfortable and the wax/debris mesh looks like something you want on your Andromeda to avoid getting dirt in those bit nozzles. Way better than the SpinFits that are included now.
Sound seems about the same as the open CA foams, I don't notice any difference.

My B-stock Andromedas that I got this week had TX-400 in the package, I wonder why yours did not.

Edit: I guess because they were B-stock

Hm maybe. Initially I thought it was a mistake but then I noticed the included leaflet/manual listed SpinFit instead of TX-400.  I don't think the SpinFit match the Andromeda at all to be honest. Maybe it's my ears, but they reduce sub-bass all the way up to lower mids, making them sound thinner and a bit brighter, which is exactly the opposite of what you want.

They sound pretty good with my v2+, but spinfit tips compromise depth too much. There is almost none of that. Spinfit tips can definitely push it too far, but it sounds really good with my v2+ which has a pretty low impedance output. Fit wise, not ideal, but after finding the correct sizes for my ears, haven't had a problem.

Mine also came with two packs of comply tips but I don't use those. Silicon tips sounded less muffled to my ears.

am I the only one who prefers the sound of the regular foam tips (non Comply)?  I think the regular foam tips retain all the detail inherent to the design, but also bump up the bass to a satisfying level. Almost like a HD800 marrying a Z1R.

That really comes to the subjectivity of comfort and sound. We all have unique ear canals and hear things differently

I personally dislike foam tips in general. Andro has a very excellent, well-controlled bass.

I don't notice much (if any) difference in sound between the regular foam tips and the Comply TX-400. Maybe you get a bit less warmth on the regulars since they're totally open, but to me the difference is minimal and I really prefer having the protective mesh over the nozzle. The comply also feel a bit softer/comfier.

But it's not a huge difference. If it was not for the nozzle protection, I wouldn't have bothered.
SpinFits however, really really don't work out for me with this IEM. Bass gets too weak and they sound thin.

I like that HD800+Z1R comparison. The Andromeda remind me of the HD800 a lot, with all the high-frequency resolution and detail. They're also bright and in [rare] moments can be sibilant with certain tracks. Some 6 kHz+ vigour. The bass can be tight and satisfying, a bit like on the Z1R, but it's not as good, of course.

BL arrived. Curious to hear how it behaves with the Andromeda.
