Very similar but different.
From what I understand, it's indeed the same basis as the Gold (7 BA with no crossover), but with a more "neutral" tuning

Seeing as the MW10 is unavailable, hoping someone here who has/owns the MW10 will be able to demo the Andro 2020 + Ara and let us know how they compare.

Out of the ones I have right now, Gold is still probably my favourite to listen to - it's perfect for just relaxing.

The MW10 is being sold at 100,000 yen (~$950) right now at e-earphone Japan, wow
Man, if that was true I would have snatched it up on the spot. People seem to love the MW10, wish I could see more reviews about it.

I actually have a MW10 right now and a OG Solaris. Ive owned the green and gold andros as well. I am not a great reviewer so I won't go into super detail this time. I actually posted my impressions of the MW10 back in November when I demoed them in store in Japan. I haven't had my greens for like a a year so sound wise i can't say directly how they would compare. What i can say is that they like to hiss on my ZX300 like the greens did. Ive got a ifi dongle for that. I reviewed my blacks as well when i got them when they first came out.

In general I can say the blue is very different from the blacks/gold like I wouldn't even compare the two. Black/Gold was like a crazy dance party fueled by rocket fuel when I plugged it into my ZX300 4.4. In my review i posted how they exploded and came to life. It was amazingly sexy and exciting but it was not neutral and was more energy than I would like for the very mellow music i listen to. They were bass monsters but they didn't have the wide sound stage I was after and i ended up keeping my Solaris.

My Solaris don't fit though so long wear kinda sucks, I managed to snag a pair of the MW10 recently hoping again to replace the Solaris knowing i would lose the sound i wanted but the trade off would be smaller and more comfortable. Ive been listening to the MW10's for the last two days to really see if the trade was worth it. Of course the day I get them from DHL (imported from Japan) CFA announces a smaller Solaris LOL.

Anyway... So the blue's are much more mid centric and they have a bit wider sound stage I feel. Nothing like Golds at all not even close, the golds lean more into bass and had a much tighter stage, sort of like a tight cone in front of you. The blue is wider but no where near the solaris, but then not as narrow as the golds. But yet the blues seem to have much better detail in the mid range than my OG Solaris. I was listening to a few songs and I picked up that in one song there are actually echo backup singers exact matching the lead singer. I never knew this was there on my Solaris. I swapped back to the Solaris and its there but you cant hear it at all, like you wouldn't even notice it. The blues its almost forward and highlighted. That was really shocking and exciting. There are a few songs where anything in that range have more detail than I am used to. I would say live music, pop music, piano, acoustic music something like that these shine. They don't have the bass or sub bass of the OG Solaris which I don't fault them for we are talking DD vs BA and thats not fair at all, they also don't have the bass of the Golds. I just want to mention that bass is not where they shine. As for highs and sparkle I dont really know so I won't lead you on. I like a warm mellow mid range and dipping into the lows. Maybe the voice echo i mention above is part of the highs which is why my Solaris muddy it up? Just listening to the song again now and it's crazy as hell how much the song is different. Its an amazing and very subtle change. This is why people own different pairs of IEMs. Pianos are crazy amazing on these.

So i would venture to say that these have a much better mid range, much more forward, and a different sound stage maybe more like the Solaris than the Andro Golds? Very very different from the golds thats for sure. I can remember that I found the Solaris to have a much better stage than my original greens as well which is why i switched. So because these are closer I would say they are quite different from the original greens as well.

I have a strict one IEM rule so I don't think I will keep them. That mid range is crazy cool, but when i switch to my solaris there is just more depth. Ive ordered the new 2020 Solaris which i hope will fix my fit problems. Maybe it will be able to grasp some of the mid/highs that I was missing as well. I hope it will at least get a little closer to these blues with the changes. As always with these things you can never have everything though, each IEM seems to have some tuning that another doesn't have. I wonder if just having my iPhone, MacBook, and ZX300 is holding them back? I didn't notice much of a change between the 4.4 bal and the 3.5 ifi outputs. On the gold andros this was a night and day change.

I hope that helps, they only made 500 of these MW10s so it kinda sucks if it sounds great to you. I will also mention that they are stupidly pretty. The blue is crazy in person and the gold and abalone are nice accents. Maybe the 2020 andros will be a little closer to the MW10. There is so few of them and it was just a limited run I don't think the 2020s are exactly the MW10's that would be untested grounds. I wouldn't replace my flagship with a sound signature we only made 500 of.

Thanks for the insight, sounds like it's definitely more mid-centric. I don't have anything like that in my collection, so I'm definitely interested. If you do decide to part ways with the MW10, let me know!

@BeerNuts @rantng
It seems that they're limited to members during this weekend sale :smiley: Sorry for the confusion.

Yikes I bought mine used from them 2 weeks ago for much more than that and thought i got a great deal. It took 2 weeks for me to get them via DHL. JapanPost has stopped all mail to the USA due to a lack of planes delivering mail. I ended up with DHL from my forwarder but even then air shipping costs have tripled from the same lack of planes and delays. I just got mine on Thursday. What is funny is I got them to possibly replace my OG Solaris due to fit issues and they day I got the MW10 they released the 2020's. It's rather hilarious the timing of all of this. I have now ordered the Solaris 2020 and I am going to be selling the MW10's. I have a hard set rule of only 1 high end IEM at a time so this doesn't get out of hand. I am hoping that the 2020 Solaris can recover some of the mids I am getting on the MW10. At least better than the OG Solaris. I am really curious to compare the two.

The Solaris 2020 does look very interesting, I quite like the small form factor.

I demo'd the OG Solaris sometime back and I quite liked it. The soundstage and presentation is quite unlike what I've heard in other units - very 3D, spherical and round with excellent layering and separation backed by an exciting DD bass. The only thing I did not enjoy was the stupidly big shell + poor fit. It's actually a nice compliment to the Andro (makes sense to own both as they sound rather different). Hoping the 2020 sounds the same w/ the small form factor, I'd consider that a potential buy.

Also, on another topic, it's quite odd how the ZX300 is such a good compliment to the Andro OG/S (in 4.4). While not the most technical, tonally it sounds very pleasing and adds some much needed bump in the bass + dynamics.
