A Zx2 is a special match for Andromeda mainly due to impedance match and tonality.Big soundstage, great separation, thick detailed mids and romantic musical signature.A balanced ZX2 with all Apps disabled is around 90% of SP1000M (unbalanced),lacking a bit in detail, clarity and air but with more musical signature and thicker mids.

Stay with the stock litz cable, buy a trrs plug and have someone do the termination. It is $400 vs $2400 (Btw, SP1000M is an awesome dap, don't regret for a moment buying it and it's superior to ZX2 even if i only heard it in 3.5mm for now,it's just that ZX2+Andromeda is special).
Btw,i don't know why SP1000M came out distorted,i'm not even drunk yet damn you tinypic

Yeah I’m pretty stoked. I’d been kicking around getting a second hand Andro for a few weeks and came across a sale at a retailer up here in Canada for an open box S for $1099CAD ($805USD). Before I could stop myself I had finished the checkout, lol.

I didn’t take the pic for my avatar, just found it on Google Image search.

Out of curiosity, what retailer did you get the SS from here in Canada? Headphonebar is out of stock so I'm kind of desperately looking around.

It was Headphonebar. Was the last one left and was removed from the open box section as soon as I checked out.

I will look into both options. The sp1000m also seems great to drive my cascades and has roon if I ever get NAS so it might be worth it. Not sure yet how the hiss is with either though.

Oh wow good catch mate. I think I was on there a few hours after you... Enjoy!!

Yeah, it was a complete fluke. I had pretty much decided that I was going to stick with my Jupiter and was browsing looking for deals on nothing in particular and saw them. I was on my iPad and clicked the "Check out with Apple Pay" to get a final price with tax and the devil on my shoulder was all like "If you just put your thumb on the button, they're yours" and next thing I knew they were on the way. I can't wait for them to show up.

Haha brilliant! I have the greens, and I imagine you'll most likely be very happy. But if you ever decide to get rid of them give me a shout!

Can I ask what is so special about the s version? I heard they are more prone to siblance?

They have a larger emphasis on the mids. My greens are amazing of course, but I almost exclusively listen to acoustic/female vocalist music, probably not the perfect music for a U-shaped signature like the greens. So I really really miss mid-centric signatures. For most people, greens would be perfect, I just personally value mids unusually highly. Unfortunately by the time I had convinced myself to switch to the S I was juuuust too late. Oh well.

I see! I'm not sure how big the difference is but aren't there better alternatives out there? Greetings

From what I'm reading, I don't really think so (at that price point at least). The SS seems to have a slight bump to the mids and other than that retain everything that the makes the Andro great. With the experience I had with my Jupiter, I'm pretty enthusiastic about Campfire which makes the Andro the perfect choice. The SS cost me less than the Green would have so I figured why not.

All the best mate! I have green Andromeda and I've been eyeing the SS version myself or the Solaris but I am not sure yet :-) Like some here I'm also very much into acoustic and female vocals -)
