You need a DAP with low output impedance (<1 Ohm) for the Andromeda otherwise the bass will go away and the treble will become peaky. I've tried the iBasso DX90 and Sony WM1A and both sound good.
It doesn't alter the original frequency response having a low output impedance. Most headphones display little frequency response change regarding different output impedance, however the Andromedas have an unusually low impedance, especially in the bass region and are much more sensitive to high output impedance. So while most headphones keep their original frequency response with high output impedance sources, the Andromedas have their response altered from their original state. I wouldn't call the Andromedas warm sounding. They seem pretty neutral to me. My Z1R, HD800S, SE846, IE80, etc. all have a little more bass to them and I would say they're warmer.
Can you provide a comparison between the SXC 8 and Ref 8 on the Andromeda? I've read your reviews of the cables, but would be interested in your direct comparison of them on the Andromeda.

FWIW I just returned the SXC 8 in favor of the Ref 8. Both are sadly a bit microphonic but the Ref 8 sounds much more open and holographic to me, also better ergonomics as it's lighter and a bit more pliable. SXC has better bass but the Ref 8 is superior on clarity and treble. YMMV.
Anyone know of tips that have a better seal than the stock marshmallow tips?
The nozzle of the Andromeda is rather short so it’s hard to get a deep seal. Comply T500 fits but makes everything dark and more muffled (still sounds ok). The ideal tip would be one that keeps the same sound signature of the stock marshmallow tips but longer tip to compensate for the short nozzle...
I do like the Andro sound signature with the Symbio W tips, but does anyone else find them (the foam) too hard? They make my ears hurt after about an hour of use. Most comfortable tips for me were comply T400 but they made the Andros sound too muffled for my taste. I keep returning to the provided spinfits for the comfort (though they definitely sound thinner than the Symbio or Comply tips).
Giving the spinfit CP155 another shot right now - they're a little loose on the nozzle and slip off too easily, but I'm liking the comfort at the moment.
